I've tried various non-specialized products - door mats, rugs, etc. None were satisfactory either because they were too small or because the mat didn't trap the litter and it went flying and bouncing onto the floor. I also tried one of those pretty Cats Rule mats but the cat didn't seem to like the texture and avoided it.

This extra large mat - 47'' x 32'' - is the best solution I've found. Very few pieces of litter have gotten past it. I was reluctant to buy it because of the expense ($30 at a local store) but am very glad I did.

This extra large cat litter mat is excellent! It really does a great job of catching the tiny pieces of litter that always come off your cat's paws after using the litter box. It helps protect your hardwood floors from the scattering of litter & is easy to keep clean. I shake it out thoroughly once a week & run the vacuum over it quickly, done! Every so often though, it's a good idea to wash with warm soapy water or just hose it down. I would recommend this product for anyone that loves their cat but hates the litter that can be tracked through your home. It catches everything!

This wouldn't be a bad litter mat except for the fact that it quickly develops cracks along the edges that turn into larger and larger tears when you shake this mat outside to remove the trapped litter. I guess if you could just leave it in place and vacuum it, it might be okay, but I don't think any vacuum would get all of the litter out of it. Mine has at least 4 major tears in it, with more developing; it's junk.

This is the second one we have purchased and after only a few weeks they start tearing at the edges, could be the way they are shipped (all folded up) but we also tried purchasing this from Pet Smart and it did the same thing.
Would not recommend this product.

Bought several of these and they were functional for about a month or so. If you shake them out they will eventually tear. I was disappointed due to the price for a litter mat, made of plastic at that. This is also difficult to really sanitize due to the plushness and crevices within the vinyl. You want to be able to effectively disinfect and clean a litter mat if you want to keep kitty at his/her optimal health, viruses are spread via the litterbox among cats who share them. But don't use lysol or pinesol without really rinsing, it can be fatal to cats! Bleach is safest for cats, combine with little vinegar, it will kill all bacteria and viruses. As for a litter mat, I have yet to find a solution.

The Litter Catcher Mat by Petmate is absolutely the best mat I have ever tried. Our twelve year old cat is always tracking his litter into other rooms, and even into my son's bed. After a week, we had noticed hardly having any litter outside of the bathroom, and when I shook out the mat I was shocked at how much it had caught. We are thrilled.

KEEP IN MIND: This mat is 47" by 32" (inches) / 120cm by 81cm (centimeters) Which is the perfect size for our bathroom.

Others complained of a smell, which there obviously will be coming out of a plastic bag, but it dissipated under a day. It was NOT a strong smell.

Even though it seems expensive.. it is very good quality and after spending countless amounts of dollars we have finally found a product that works.

This mat is HUGE! We love it, now our cats can't jump out of the box and sling litter every where. Catches all litter, soft and rubbery so they do not mind walking on it. GREAT!A+

This mat is wonderful. Keep in mind that it is huge. I didn't expect it to be this big but since we have our litter box near our back door this mat doubles as a regular floor mat keeping all particles dragged in from outside.

Workes great, but don't expose it to outdoor cold quickly, it becomes brittle, and tore in 3 places after banging it on a bench outside on a 35 degree day.

WORKS GREAT! I love the size and it works the best of things that I have used, ever! It is in front of two litter boxes. I sometimes just run the vacuum over it to pick up any stray litter from it. The boys don't mind walking on it at all. Wish I would have bought this in the first place. Hesitated due to price. Ended up spending more trying other, cheaper, things.
