Unlike the other reviewer, I had no problem with the assembly of this crate. I had it put together within 5 minutes and it's perfect - holes all matched up, etc.

This is the airline-approved type of crate which is made of a very durable plastic, It came with 2 water/food bowls which attach to the door.

If using this for airline travel, of course, this size crate will go into the cargo area, it should only be used for larger dogs, you don't want too much space or there could be a lot of jossling around during turbulence. If you are using this for crating overnight at home, this would not be for a large dog. In fact, if you stuffed a large German Shepherd sized dog in this for overnight crating, that would be darn cruel, the poor dog wouldn't have room to stand up or turn around. If home crating either overnight or while at work, I wouldn't put a dog much larger than 20 lbs. in this crate.

I use it for overnight crating of my dog, it's her den/cave - I prefer this type crate to the wire see-through type for this very reason. Dogs like their dens. My dog doesn't think it's torture at all to go in this at night, and she gets a good night's sleep and doesn't have to worry about a cat jumping on her just for meanness.

It's easy to clean too, I just pull it outdoors to the patio and hose it. Petmate also makes mats that fit inside perfectly.

WARNING: There is one thing you have to be concerned about when crating your dog. Make sure your dog's collar and/or tags can't get caught in any openings or the door of the crate, especially if it's a small dog. It might be a freak accident, but a small dog that is jumping around could possibly hang itself if the collar or tags would happen to "catch" on something.

Just like the title says, this crate was/is a ridiculous waste of money - I doubt it will hold up for 3 months. First of all, it came packaged in a bunch of old boxes that had been haphazardly taped together to try & cover the crate itself. Once I got it out of the mess it was packaged in, & started putting it together, I was amazed at how small this "extra large" crate was - it may handle a 45 lb dog, but nothing larger, for sure. Add to that, the holes the bolts went through were not lined up at all, so I had to drill them out to make them match - ditto with the tie-down holes. Oh, and the bolts & bolt covers themselves? Well, the covers are cheap plastic that DON'T FIT the bolts - so I had to find wing nuts that would fit them to fit the two pieces together. For the cost, this thing is a tragedy - and if there was a way to repackage & send it back, you bet your bottom dollar I would do so - but since it didn't come in a box (it came in PIECES OF BOXES)there's no way to put that puzzle back together. Move on, folks, & find a product worth this price tag.

IATA requires air-holes on all 4 sides of the carrier. This model does not have holes on the back side (which you can't see in the main photo). As a result, I had to drive from Boston Logan to a local Petsmart to purchase new IATA approved crates 2 hours prior to shipping 2 dogs to the UK.

Other than that, I suppose they're ok.

I rate this kennel as a three because I own several of them and they're very solid, well-made, well-venilated products. However, the kennel I received was defective past the point of usability. The door was bent where it connects to the framework of the kennel itself thereby rendering it inopperable. Because the door was bent so badly, the lock would not slide into the kennel frame like it should have. If the door was manually shifted over and locked by sliding the bar up into the slot in the frame, there was so much pressure on the lock itself that the springs in the locking mechanism likely would have popped loose/fallen apart with the slightest push from a dog within.

Additionally, my product was shipped without ANY hardware. I wasn't concerned about the lack of hardware because I ziptie my airline crates for extra security. I did, however, ziptie the crate completely BEFORE I discovered that the kennel was unusable.

Had the kennel shipped with all of its hardware and the door been functional, I would have rated it a perfect 5 stars -- the venilation is excellent, it's extremely durable and well-made, thought and consideration was given to the design itself to make it safe for dogs and people and it's easy to transport, stack and store.

We bought this kennel to ship a rescue dog to Seattle on American Airlines- It is extremely sturdy, and was able to put together in about 10 minutues. Approved no problem by American for air transport ( it states its airlined approved but sometimes never know). Our young golden mix fit perfect in this ( she is about 23 pounds ) and her new owner uses it for training as well. Very happy, will be ordering a Petmate Pet Porter again when needed! :)

We must own a dozen of these amongst my family and friends. Some of them are real old, mine is newish at about 3 years. It's in great condition.

The adult dogs that we transport in these travel kennels range from 40lbs to 85lbs. No drama, all the dogs seem happy enough and they've gone on multi-day drives. Yes, they can all jump in, turn around, and give you that "now what?" look.

The only thing missing is floor cover. Scrap carpet, old towels or sheets, whatever. Just throw something in there for bedding.

worked well on plane. Pups arrived safe and as happy as they could have been trapped in there! pretty good price. Light-weight, too.

The product arrived with no damage and all of the parts. We did not have any problems with assembly. As with any crate purchase, pay close attention to the dimensions listed for the product and animal size recommendations. Also check with the airline for crate size limitations. If you cannot decide upon a crate online, go to a local retailer so that you can match your animal to the appropriate size crate for travel. You will need to order an airline travel kit or two small hanging bowls in order for this to pass airline regulations.

Very good crate. Wish it had a handle for easier transport when there is no pet inside.

The kennel comes knocked down and takes but a couple of minutes to put together. It is sturdily built and well ventilated. The latching mechanism is soundly constructed and easy to use (if you have large hands- one hand will do- for smaller hands you may need to use both.)

It is true to size and considering Amazon's free shipping policy, I was not able to find a better deal.

If this style kennel is what you are looking for, then I would recommend it as a good product at a good price.
