5.0 out of 5 stars The Ultimate Retractable Leash
This is the ultimate retractable leash. The grip is exceptionally comfortable compared to other leashes, the cord is superior to the ribbon found on most leashes because it is less susceptible to damage from dog biting and tearing, and the trigger-stop is more ergonomic than the more common thumb-stop. We walk 2 "fiercely determined" bulldogs and have now ordered a...

2.0 out of 5 stars does anyone else have a sticking problem??
I like this leash - I really do. It's great - the only thing I don't like is how it keeps sticking. It's usually when I have to have the dog on a shorter length while crossing the road - I click the trigger and get to the other side and it won't move. I stand there fiddling with the thing for ever and give up and then some how after letting it set for a 1/2 hour I can get...

5.0 out of 5 stars The Ultimate Retractable Leash, December 22, 2008

This is the ultimate retractable leash. The grip is exceptionally comfortable compared to other leashes, the cord is superior to the ribbon found on most leashes because it is less susceptible to damage from dog biting and tearing, and the trigger-stop is more ergonomic than the more common thumb-stop. We walk 2 "fiercely determined" bulldogs and have now ordered a second Aspen leash. My wife still suffers from damage to her thumb from repetitive use of the thumb-stop on our old leash. We know from experience that both cord and ribbon leashes can cause burns to unprotected legs.

4.0 out of 5 stars I like the design, June 23, 2009
By
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I ordered two of these leashes, and I was going to return them as soon as I opened the first package. It felt way too light and flimsy to handle either of my dobermans at 95 and 75 lbs. But I was in a pinch so I began using them, and I was pleasantly suprised. They reel in and out very smoothly and the trigger-type stop is much easier to use than other leashes with the top-mounted stop. They are quite comfortable to hold and don't dig into the palm of your hand when your normally-well-trained doggie takes a sudden detour. The only drawback for me is that the handles are thick (partly what makes them comfortable) and it is difficult to hold two leashes--or one leash and a cell phone, coffee cup, etc.--in one hand (when you need a free hand for pooper-scooper duties). My hands are fairly small, but even my husband who has average-sized hands has some trouble. Overall I am pleased with the purchase.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This is a great product at a great price. I priced the same leash at Petco at twice the price.

1.0 out of 5 stars poor quality, October 9, 2010
This review is from: Petmate Walkabout Retractable Leash, Large, Black (Misc.)
Owned it for 6 months and then it wouldn't retract. I thought paying a little more would give me quality but no it did not. I have a ten pound puppy and it broke. Never again will I purchase this product.

2.0 out of 5 stars does anyone else have a sticking problem??, September 7, 2010

I like this leash - I really do. It's great - the only thing I don't like is how it keeps sticking. I stand there fiddling with the thing for ever and give up and then some how after letting it set for a 1/2 hour I can get it to go again - which doesn't help our walk.

5.0 out of 5 stars Be smarter than your pooch!, December 21, 2008

I have had these leashes for 4 years and am very happy with them. They have held up with our flat coat retriever and now our german shepard. The previous reviewer may have "dog control" issues - as long as the dog is in front of you - no rope burns for them or YOU are likely!

4.0 out of 5 stars Get a grip!, September 13, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I've been using this leash for over 6 years now. I had to replace it once due to my dog chewing through the rope. The grip is comfortable and I like the rope leash more than the others that have a ribbon style leash. The only problem I've encountered is when my dog lunges forward at something, the leash seems to get jammed and won't retract. Otherwise, it is perfect!

5.0 out of 5 stars Incredibly Durable, Easy Operation, June 22, 2011
I am shopping on Amazon for another Petmate Walkabout leash after mine has finally died after seven years. The leash retracts easily and the trigger action and locking mechanism work perfectly.

2.0 out of 5 stars disappointing, May 15, 2011
had this leash for a few months to walk a 40 pound dog. It was great until the leash broke in the middle of a walk. Compared to my previous leash that was cheaper and lasted 2 years, this is a disappointment.

1.0 out of 5 stars Broke during second use on a puppy 70 pounds less than the recommeded poundage, March 16, 2011
My puppy could have been killed when the leash snapped the second time I used this. Petmate offered to send me a new leash and it has been one month and they have not sent me anything yet. Do not use this product. It is dangerous!
