Petra Praise 2: We Need Jesus is the band's second album devoted entirely to songs of praise and worship. With longtime Petra producers John & Dino Elefante at the helm, Petra Praise 2 is an excellent collection of praise and worship songs. My overall favorite song here is The Holiest Name. I love the vocal harmonies on that track. Some other songs I really enjoyed include Be Of Good Cheer, Ancient of Days, Lord, I Lift Your Name On High, Lovely Lord, and the title track. The CD closes with We Need Jesus, in which John Elefante (former Kansas vocalist) and Lou Gramm (ex-Foreigner vocalist) join Petra frontman John Schlitt (formerly of Head East) on lead vocals. If you're looking to rock out to standard Petra fare, you are likely to be disappointed, but if you are looking for a great contemporary praise and worship CD, give Petra Praise 2: We Need Jesus a try. This is a great worship album!

Petra's second praise album. The first one "Rock Cries Out" is a classic. This second one is much more peaceful but it isn't bad. The first song "Song of Moses" is maybe the only song in the album I don't like. The next ones "Lord I Lift Your Name on High" and "Be of Good Cheer" are excellent songs. I would say that "Lord I Lift..." is probably the best song in this album. This is a perfect album for balance because Petra's first praise album "Rock Cries Out" was so rocking and upbeat. I think it was natural to make different kind of praise album. It's great to see that there's the word "Lord" or "Jesus" in so many song title. Medley has three good songs (Only by Grace, To Him Who Sits On the Throne, You Are Holy) but usually medleys don't convince me - not this time. Anyway, Petra rocks - although with this album more peaceful. It's maybe the best Christian rock band ever.

This is a great album and Lord I Lift your Name on High is a great song. It is all very nice

I have had this album since it came out in 1997, and it's hard to not be impressed by every aspect of it. Fans of praise music will love it because it is vertical as expected and is full of worship songs most people are familiar with. Hard rock fans will love the way it doesn't compromise its heaviness. It accomplishes on many fronts what few praise albums I've ever heard do, and I think it actually surpasses Petra Praise I. I still listen to it and worship to it nearly 15 years later. Buy it. You won't regret it.

Lastly, look for John Elefante to make a cameo appearance on the title track. One of the greatest voices ever and is a nice compliment to Schlitt's grit.

An amazing compilation of worship songs, as traditional hymns with Petra's unique touch. I love the voice of John Schlitt never fade away. My favorite songs are: Lord, I Lift Your Name On High (The best), Show Your Power, I Love You Lord, The Holiest Name, Ancient Of Days (Amazing), I Waited For The Lord, Lovely Lord, We Need Jesus. Is a real good worship album.
