The book is a basic practical introduction to optical petrography and a good easy to use referrence book for advanced petrologists. The CD alone (which contains the actual photographs depicted in line drawings in the book) is worth the purchase price and is an excellent tool for review and refreshment of interpretation skills.

Book was very informative. However, the book's pictures were somewhat poor, but the CD had those picture in great quality.

this is a very good petrographic description book. I recomend this book to anyone who works in mineralogical description, geology and mineral science students; it has everything you need to succes in a mineralogy course.

My first class in Igneous and Metamorphic rocks. This Lab book seems to be a fair guide to what Ig/Met petrology is.

Great book and very helpful. Laid out well and easy to understand. Not to expensive. No binding helps to leave it open.

This product arrived in the time expected and in great condition (CD included, unopened). The material was a little less helpful than desired and the graphics not as visually descriptive as hoped, but overall a good basic lab assistance manual!
