About the Author
Born in Yorkshire, Don Hallett received his bachelors degree in Geology from Durham University, and his doctorate (on Carboniferous foraminifera) from University College London. He began his career with Esso Exploration in UK and Morocco, and subsequently spent five years working in Algeria for Sonatrach. He then worked for BNOC/Britoil in Glasgow and Aberdeen, on the petroleum geology of the North Sea, attaining the position of Chief Geologist. He joined Sirte Oil Company in Libya in 1987 where, as Acting Geology Superintendent, he gained widespread experience of Libyan petroleum geology. Dr. Hallett currently lives in Richmond, UK, and works as a consultant petroleum geologist, affiliated to a number of specialist consulting groups.
