More About the Author

Maisey Yates started writing stories from the moment she first learned how to form words with a pen. But she never had any idea what to write, and most stories sat started, half formed and half finished, but never completed.
During her high school and college years she spent a lot of time dreaming about holding a book in her hands that had her name emblazoned across the front, but she did a lot more dreaming than actual writing.
At her very first job she was fortunate enough to meet her very own tall, dark and handsome hero, who happened to be her boss, and promptly married him and started a family. It wasn't until she was pregnant with her second child that she found her very first Harlequin Presents in a local thrift store. She'd never read a Harlequin romance before, and by the time she'd reached the happily ever after she had fallen in love. She devoured as many as she could get her hands on after that, and she knew that these were the books she wanted to write!
Soon after that she saw online that Harlequin was running a competition to win an editor for a year. She decided that was her sign to get in gear and start writing again. So she wrote her chapter and synopsis and hit send with trembling hands. She didn't get any feedback from the contest, but it was the boost she needed to get her first full manuscript finished and submitted to Presents.
Nearly two years later, while pregnant with her third child, she received The Call from her editor, informing her they wanted to buy that manuscript. She was very glad that the good news didn't send her promptly into labor!
She still can't quite believe she's blessed enough to see her name on, not just any book, but her favorite books.
Maisey lives with her supportive, wonderful, diaper-changing husband and three small children across the street from her parents, and the home she grew up in, in the wilds of Southern Oregon.
She enjoys the contrast of living in a place where you might wake up to find a bear on your back porch and then heading into the home office to write stories that take place in exotic, urban locales.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good read, February 4, 2012

Some Spoilers....I guess

The Petrov Proposal is the story of Maddy Forrester. She's the sister of Gage Forrester from the book 'Marriage Made on Paper.' If you read that book you know that Maddy went through a seriously humiliating experience when she was 21. After going through that and being called a homewrecker by the press and a whore by the wife of the man she'd been sleeping with (she didn't know he was married) she's closed herself off to love, in fact she doesn't believe in it. 15 years younger than Gage, Maddy has never really felt loved by her parents. She was a late in life accident and her parents wanted nothing to do with her so Gage takes her in. <---- this is explained in 'Marriage Made on Paper' and expanded on slightly more here. Anyway now several years after her humiliation she's working for Petrova, a high end jewelry company, as an event coordinator. She's just been promoted and although she's never met her boss face to face she has had spoken with him on the phone. When they finally meet she finds herself unexpectedly attracted to him (of course he's super hot, as is the case in these books) but because of her past she doesn't want to follow on it because she doesn't want to get hurt again. Aleksei has issues of his own but really wants Maddy. The whole book is actually pretty interesting. Usually the "hero" in these books has some lame reason for closing themselves off but Aleksei actually had a good one and it was believable. Even though neither wanted to admit their feelings to themselves it's always very clear that what they have is more than just physical. The loves scenes are hot and both characters are likable. I didn't think Aleksei was a "cold fish" as another reviewer did. He had issues because of the death of his wife, which I thought were understandable. Towards the end (particularly the final chapter)it does get a little cheesy but overall the book is good.

This was a sweet love story that I really enjoy reading. I haven't read a good book by Harlequin in a long time, so this is way i gave it four stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars Well worth the Wait!!, February 4, 2012

Ahhhhhhh is the first thing I want to say. What an amazingly incredible romance. This story jumped off the pages from the very first chapter. I absolutely loved Madeline. She was strong and yet a bit naive, the perfect heroine who knows what she wants and doesn't play the victim. Aleksi is dashing and sexy and Maisey Yates does a wonderful job at showing his inner conflict. They fight the attraction, but of course a good romance wouldn't be a great one without the couple to eventually stop fighting what's meant to be and come together. This story is just another example of why this is one of my absolute favorite authors. I pre-ordered this book and counted down the days for it to download. Getting it on sale I almost feel like I stole the book. Don't miss out on this amazing book!!
