I was about to take a trip across country with my dog & cat. I found this book at a local bookstore and it not only gave me some outstanding suggestions on how to prepare for my trip, but also some terrific check-lists and recreational information. The places that the authors recommend are first rate..... I stayed in eleven different ones on my trip and every one was great - from little B&Bs to one romantic resort hotel at the end of the trip, when my wife joined me. Oustanding job!!!! I can't wait for the regional guides to be re-released.......

I bought this book AND "PETSWELCOME.COM". Well, after careful examination of the two, this book wins hands down for: organization, depth of information, ergonomic reading, number of entries (small towns too!). I sent back "PETSWELCOME.COM" for a refund without hesitation and will keep this book as my mainstay. Read my review about "PETSWELCOME.COM". I just got the feeling that based on all my examination of cities that this book had more care and research invested in it-----by far! When travelling, I don't need anymore inconveniences. This book is really what pet owners need. It has everything one would need in addition to the extras. It does not list emergency vets, but the other book was incomplete on this anyway with a few listings. Perhaps there is another resource that lists emergency animal hospitals.

We use the book often, and successfully because we take the authors' advice which is to call ahead and confirm that the property still takes pets. We also go to their website (www.petsonthego.com) to check for updates as well. This is the only pet travel guide, that we know of, to offer both a print version and online version for updates. It really makes it easy for us.

I work in the hospitality industry and know that hotels change policies on a whim -- I think Pets on the Go does a great job of responding to those changes by offering both an easy to use print guide with updated online information! Thanks.
