These micro-stories are like a box of Belgian chocolates. Eat one at a time: each one has a different flavor. Most will make you smile, some will let you wonder. Bugs, flies, lizards, spiders, mice, birds, rabbits, cats, dogs, goats, boars and men are presented through the large lens of compassion.
Next to my picture, you can see my cat - a hero of ON PETS AND MEN - a book signing on Wilmington Island and a very old house that I photographed in France while scouting for my new book VAGUE SOUVENIR.
I had three lives, one in Belgium where I was born and became a Pastor and Civil Rights activist (1940-1971), one in France as a scientist (1971-1998) and one in the United States as a happy mom re-united with her children and sweetly retired. I published in French a novel, 50 short stories for children and a political book illustrated by Virginia Leirens (a companion of Chagall). As a scientist I edited several books and published 40 papers.
VAGUE SOUVENIR (just out of press) is a historical fiction book. I wanted to describe the smells, the conversations, the dresses, the cooking of the time of my parents during World War 2. My heroes travel from France to Spain, to Portugal, to London, to the United States, some intense at surviving and some hoping to change the world. A whole year of research went into this. ON PETS AND MEN is a series of ultra short stories about ... mainly pets and a few men.
