My two cats do seem to like to play with it nonetheless.

Unfortunately, the plastic was not durable enough to stand up to a dog's jaws, even a small dog.

I expect the battery will die fairly quickly and it does not look very replaceable.

Our 2 month old kitten is mildly interested in the toy... however, I expected that the lights wouldn't flash if they weren't playing with it (like certain squeak toys)... I guess it doesn't say it on the packaging, but the lights stay on all the time. I expect the battery will die fairly quickly and it does not look very replaceable. We will be returning this item. :(

I have been looking for a light-up ball for night time play with my dog, who is only about 20 pounds. Most of the light up balls are much too large, so I thought this would be a good option. This worked well and he loved the lights, even during the daytime in the house. Unfortunately, the plastic was not durable enough to stand up to a dog's jaws, even a small dog. There is a small circle of plastic that popped off immediately. The lights roll around inside the casing and I was afraid to leave him alone with this from that point forward. We only got about 1.5 days out of this. I gave it three stars anyway because it wasn't really intended for dogs. I eventually bought him Nite Ize MTLP-08-07 MeteorLight K-9 Led dog ball, and even though it is larger in size, he is able to carry it and LOVES it. It is also much more durable and safer, the battery compartment fits snugly inside the ball. I still don't allow him to have it unsupervised, but I don't feel like I have to keep my eyes on him at all times with it.

Someone who doesnt know cats invented this...hard dense material that the average paw would not easily swat. My cats were very tentative as the red lights were flashing wildly, this is not a suitable replacement for the red beam laser toy that requires interactive play of owner/cat. I bought two thinking to share this great new idea with my kids who all have cats, not one cat out of 3 found this a toy of interest.

I purchased one of these toys about a year ago from a local store and it worked great - cat loved it! But, he got a staph infection and giardia (long story), so we had to wash all his toys. Well, water got into the mechanism and the toy was kaput. I found a cheap version (hard plastic, not soft like this one) at Walmart, and kitty loved that one, too. But, it's since gone missing. I thought I'd be a nice kitty mama and get him the fancy, expensive one from Amazon. The first ball arrived, I pulled the operating tab, and it worked for two seconds, then died - it would only light up briefly if you slammed it against the floor. (It's supposed to light up when kitty bats it.) That ball went back to Amazon. The replacement ball arrived and did the same thing, so back it goes too. It's too bad, since my cat really likes it and wanted to play with it (he fetches like a dog and can even get a grip on the plastic).

Our kitties love to play & are pretty adventurious, but they did like this ball at all. The "twinkle" scared them, and the lighting only lasted for about 2 days (not long enough for them to even get use to it). The texture of the ball is rubbery, and not so appealing to cats. This item was not a hit at all. Save your money.

I thought this ball was really cool, my cat did not. I got it for him when he was about four months old and after he was uninterested I hid it and reintroduced it when he was about a year old and he still was not interested. I gave it to my sister and her cat went crazy with it. So it's not for every cat.

I bought this ball when my two kittens were around 4~6 month old last year, and since then non of them touched it or get interested in the stupid flashing red light, the battery died out quickly (less then month) I wished soo badly of seeing my cute kittens playing with the ball so I decided to buy 3 new batteries for the ball and I had really hard time replacing the battery to new one, but after hours of trying, finally I got the new battery inside. However, the red light never worked again...

THIS IS WASTE OF MONEYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY, EVEN DOESN'T DESERVE SINGLE STARRRRRRRRRRRRR

My cats play with ANY ball that shows up in the house, from lightweight hollow plastic, to 'cage' balls with bells inside, to 'twinkle' balls that circle around a round track. But for some reason, they spurn this one. I got it for night play, due to the light, but it doesn't start 'twinkling' absent a pretty hard swat, so the cats didn't manage to trigger it when they first tried it, and have ignored it ever since. Perhaps it's due to the slightly 'tacky' feel of this particular plastic. I gave it a 3-star rating rather than a 2-star rating, though, because upon reflection I decided it's as likely due to mere kitty preference as anything about the ball itself.
