This is a compilation of a number of the TV sitcom episodes back to back - not a movie.

It's a very quaint sitcom with lovable characters we could identify with and just enjoy, from the era of shows like The Beverly Hillbillies, Green Acres, I Dream of Jeanne, The Dick Van Dyke show and the like. They weren't intellectual gems by any means, but intelligent in their simple mass appeal. Everyone loved to watch them - they were a nice way to pass the time and at the same time they made us feel so much smarter, wiser and more sophisticated/worldly by comparison. And now, decades later, I'm all grown up and shows are more sophisticated - but I still love watching the old shows now and then. Memories of simpler times. It's just a good feeling like spending a nice evening on the porch with a few friends or family... nothing special, but it makes you feel good.

In this particular sitcom, loveable Uncle Joe is usually up to some hair-brained scheme (or misguided thinking), Kate is the wise woman we all hope to be, and her 3 Barbie-doll beautiful daughters were always great eye candy for the male audience and good roles for us teenage girls to try to emulate in many ways.

Take a trip back down memory lane and enjoy these episodes and for a little while, life will just seem better.

I'm looking forward to further episodes from later seasons from this wonderful show from my childhood. I don't know the convoluted story behind the issue, but copyright regulation in America is flat-out insane when the original excellent theme written by Flatt & Scruggs can't be used. I mute the volume and play the opening theme in another tab sometimes for continuity, it bugs me that much.

The substitute theme is way too bland and generic for my taste, IP laws are destructive at this point, sez me.

Good old fashioned humor. These are the earliest episodes made. I think they only got better with time. I didn't recall a couple of the actresses. I think they made some cast changes later on.

Overall good show and always fun to watch.

It's good, clean television, funny, with morals- no lewd shots, no foul language. I would love to see more of these episodes

Great old tv show. Didn't give it a perfect rating, because I wish more episodes were available including some of the later color ones. Very entertaining. Incidentally, its a show I can watch with my preschool age kids around, because there is no profanity, sexuality, etc.

Predictable plots and story lines, but charming nonetheless. I liked the series years featuring Bea Benaderet a bit better than the series with June Lockheart. I think Meredith MacCrea joined the cast as Betty Jo in the 4th or 6th season. It's just a great study to view the talent of each member of the cast. The actors made it look so easy to charm and entertain us. I truly appreciate how difficult it really is/was.
The sets and costumes were intriguing in those early days of TV. The Train scenes seem to have been stored as "stock" footage and you will see the same general store footage repeated many times from show to show. I don't mind that the music is not original because the source and show music seems to fit the general mood(s). I am sure that the music copyright owner/publisher may have had a role in the decision to exclude it since these sync and mechanical rights can be complicated and expensive.
Petticoat Junction joins the list of the many shows from the 60's that were simple, entertaining, but not primitive in any way. It still amazes me that after watching a few episodes I feel relaxed, nostalgic and in a better mood.
