Purr-fect!,

I'm surprised by the negative reviews on this game. Our family absolutely loves this game! We have several Wii games, and this has been our kids' favorite since we bought it two months ago. My son is 7 and my daughter is 4 1/2, and they both love it. The cover picture makes it look like it is a cutesy girly game, but it is not. I would say the ideal target audience for this game would be boys and girls, ages 4-10. There are dozens of cats to choose from to play. There are so many lands to explore. The reviewer who said that their child "beat the game" quickly must have been playing the game for 72 hours straight, because my kids have gotten over 2 months enjoyment out of this game and aren't even close to "beating it" yet. What we like most about it is that it is a happy and positive game for kids... The lands are so beautiful and detailed, the cats adorable (without being cutesy), the play is very positive (mostly doing helpful things for other cats in the neighborhood), and each land has its own unique and pleasant background music. (No violence, no scary images, no complicated rules of play.) I think this game would appeal to older kids as well. If your child (boy or girl) likes animals, they will definitely like this game.

I purchased this game, without reading any reviews and I wish I had. My little sister used to LOVE playing Catz on the PC (back in the mid-90's), and it was basically a game where you create a cat, dress them up, have them play, have them make kittens, etc (kind of like the Sims for cats). I expected this game to be the same way (the box seems to insinuate that it is). Although it is easier than some of the other Wii games, it's not a game for a 5 year old.
1. There is a lot of reading involved. 2. The adventure resembles a LOT like Zelda... complete with hearts, fishing, catching bugs, and learning new skills. 3. They found the snakes to be scary (yes, they just sit there, but my 3 and 5 yr old kids were crying that the cat was going to get hurt by the snake) 4. My 22 year old sister found it fun though. The kids like watching a grown up playing the game, and aside from the bad guys that they found scary, it's a pretty tame game. Edit: Ok, so I played the game and beat it. It has zero replay value... if you beat the end guy, that's the end of the game, you can't go back in and play the minigames or anything, or complete any tasks that you didn't do (find 10 special watermelon, etc). The main menu's minigames is a race with 3 tracks. I think they could've at least put some of the minigames that are in the adventure as accessible from the main menu (there's dodgeball, a sled pull, etc). The money in the game is meaningless. You can buy clothing for your cat or give clothes to the towns cats. You can store fish in the aquarium, and flowers in the flower beds. But they're all kind of meaningless things to do. The end guy, while easy enough for a video game noob like me, would be way too hard for my 5 yr old (plus the end guy HURTS you and that freaks her out). Oh and if they give you a task to catch a certain fish, it takes FOREVER of catching random fish before you get that one that they want. I still give it a thumb down, maybe a rental, but not a buy unless it's on the clearance rack.

Perks and disappointments for Catz 2,

I'm an 11 yr old boy who helps my little 7 yr old sister w/ this game. It is a little creepy, though. There are a few parts that I wouldn't recommend for young children. For instance, one day while playing the game, I was rounding the corner and got the heck scared out of me when I saw a grizzly bear charging at me. Another instance was when I was up in the mountains on some sort of mission. Suddenly I found myself surrounded by about 10 poisonous snakes. I barely managed to make it out of there in one piece.
There are some perks to this game, though. For instance, you can customize your cat's appearance with different clothes. Here are a few different, fun costume combinations. Use the brown denim jacket and brown ten-gallon hat and your cat can look like Indiana Jones. Or make your cat look like a Coast Guard officer by using the white lifejacket, white sheriff's hat, and white flight goggles. You can also make your cat look like royalty by choosing the red leather jacket and the crown. I hope this has helped you.

cute kitty adventure game for all ages!,

i was reading some of the reviews here and many are really misleading.
first, this isnt a pet sim game. it is a game where you choose a kitten, name them and go on adventures. the game is a very cute adventure game with mini-games. if you like kittys and Zelda-esque type games, you will enjoy this game. you can also dress up your kitten with clothes you buy from the shop. the game doesnt have an amazing story or much replay value like a Zelda game, but this IS pretty much a budget kiddy game. although, as someone in their 20s, i did enjoy playing through the game. and, when you beat the game you CAN still go back and do things you missed the first time around. like most other games, it does not save when you beat the last boss, so you can load your last save file anytime. this game is VERY much for children. the story is very simple and so is the gameplay. there is nothing scary/bad in this game at all (well, you CAN throw rocks at other animals, if that would upset you). i did, however, find the game to be frustrating at times (fishing, the last boss especially), but what game doesnt have its moments? i saw some people complaining about the reading required. well, wouldnt you want your child to read? having them play a game that requires reading would encourage them to learn. or, you could sit with them and help them read it/read it to them. you shouldnt really leave your young child unsupervised when they are gaming anyway. also, the game does teach about helping others and how doing wrong things is bad. the story does focus about the "big bad wolf" trying to do evil things, but your kitty trys to right those. if you dont want your child witness such "atrocities" then you might as well lock them in a closet for life. to sum it up, basically if you like advenute games that involve kittys with simple gameplay, this is a game to play. children and adults alike will get a kick out of Petz Catz 2!

Wonderful game for younger kids!,

We bought this for our 7-year-old son. He is obsessed with cats and we hoped he would enjoy it. The game title and cover are misleading, as we thought it would be a game that involved taking care of cats. Instead, these are not "pet" cats at all. It's an adventure where your lead character cat has to save it's little town (and the world?) from an evil wolf who has taken control of the "Magic Hat." Our son was a little disappointed at first, but after he was past the training part of the game, he got really into it and now loves to play it. I'm not sure how long it will take him to complete the game, but it was only $10 now so I'm not worried about it. I really like that helping others is a central theme of the game, it's nonviolent (besides throwing rocks at snakes), and it is really cute. I would recommend this for boys and girls ages 6 or 7 through 10. There is quite a bit of reading involved to understand the required tasks.

I found this game very cute and fun. I wasn't expecting to go on an adventure to save the world though. The graphics are good, and I enjoyed dressing my cat up. I didn't like that there was so many enemies, though. Sometimes it was hard to get through the caves and other places without almost getting killed. I would recommend this to almost everyone, except young children since it might be to difficult. Some of the mini games where hard, others were fun. I was disapointed by it ending. It only took me 3 days to finish this game. I didn't realize the game was going to end, so I didn't get some of my missions done. This game would be better if it was like Animal Crossing or Harvest Moon. Those games are continous. But overall it was a very fun and entertaining game. I would recommend to everyone.

I am Michael's daughter and I absolutely AAAAADDDDDOOOORRRREEEEE this game!!!! This game has adventure and gorgeous, smooth music from the beginning. I hum the songs every day. My FAVE part is the endgame. IT IS SO FUN! Anyways, if you think this game is where you pick and raise a kitten and give it love, you will be DISAPPOINTED. There are 60+ quests to save your cuddly kitty world. The story line is basic and smooth and I adore the adventure.
For a long time your wonderful kingdom of cats has had peace from the power of the magic hat. Your father, Arvin, is its protector. Suddenly one day Ivlet, an evil (AND SO COMPLETELY AWESOME) wolf comes to your village, and allows himself to be caught in order to steal the magic hat. You and your mischievous friend Victor visit him once in the day and then at night, so you can see him awake and moving around. He tricks you into bringing the magic hat so he can steal it. He destroys your village (which is sad, but it looks AWESOME cuz Ivlet is throwing fireballs and floating!!!), but nobody dies. You get arrested. Your friend bails you out, but he gets arrested instead!!! That part was sooooo sad. Anyways!!! You then go on a huge adventure- Even PAST the village of Pawville- To save your cozy world and right a TERRIBLE wrong. On your travels, make your cat cuter with accessories (you have to wait until you repair the fashion house), meet other cats in faraway lands like the Polar Fields, Inferno Cave, Monolith Isle, and other places. Along the way Ivlet turns the magic hat more and more evil- Endangering you and your world even more! I HIGHLY recommend this game to all ages as soon as they know how to operate the wii or if they are older. The only way I would NOT recommend this game to certain kids is incase they get nightmares or get scared easily, Ivlet would freak them out. Anyways the music is gorgeous and smooth, like a practiced symphony and not like one of those other cheesy-music games. There are so many instruments and it is so detailed. The gameplay is AWESOME and the adventures and quests are enjoyable and actually relaxing, not like one of those games where you have to stand up to shake the wii remote a million times and twist and turn it over and over. Overall I would recommend this game to ALL!!!!!

This was a fun game, but I didn't like some of the controls on the Wii. It was hard to navigate around in some parts of the game. My kids love the game alot.

We got this for our 7 year old daughter for the wii. There aren't many games that seem to target the female gender so we were glad to see this. Not that boys won't enjoy the game - the content and concepts are clearly targeting girls. My daughter loves cats so we gave it a whirl. My only complaint is that the content was so lacking. She 'beat' the game in a matter of days.
She say's that shes glad she beat it and she will continue to play it. She loves to 'make new friends.' She can make new cats to play, earn outfits, dress them up and meet new friends. So there's some replayability.

One of the presents we got for our granddaughter on her 11th birthday was the Wii game, Catz 2. We ordered from Amazon.com. It was delivered more quickly than I thought it would be, and I didn't have to worry about getting it on time. She loves the game and plays it all the time, learning more about it all the time.
