This is a very very fun little game,it would be especially good for children also, but there is a lot of reading in it,and some of the minigames are rather boring need not be played. There are a lot of things to do in this game and it'll keep the player quite busy.Don't worry that there are a lot of things to do because it's all written down in the diary what you quest is , such as what quest you are on and where and what you are supposed to do next, or be doing.Although some of the moves the cats make to do what they have to do may seem quite uncoordinated, it's ok, it'll work, just wait for th x to appear. There are a lot of breeds of cats to choose from in this game and they are all cute as you may want them to be.Somewhat similar to Animal Crossing in gameplay, it is very easy to get absorbed into this game and be unaware of the time spent playing.

I really enjoy this game! The graphics and music are very artfully done and the action is smooth. This very relaxing and enjoyable adventure is a nice distraction from button mashing monster slashing action and gore. Sometimes it's nice to take a vacation from all of that and the Catz village is just the spot for that.. lots of little games to play, lots of nice places to go fishing, and very nice scenery!
The variety of fish, foods and bugs you can find in this game makes it very educational, They don't tell you about the fish or foods, or bugs but curious kids can have mom or dad look them up and learn about them. Good promotion of science and parental interaction for those who are so inclined! (Hey mom, what's a Durian?? can we have one for dessert??) This is also a very good lesson for youngsters in helping neighbors in a disaster situation, and being accountable for one's mistakes, no matter how big or small) The only downside to the game is in the selection of cats you have for your character - there are lots of breeds to choose from but you have no choice for coat color. However, if you ignore the breed names and go for overall look, you're bound to find at least one in there that sort of matches one of your own pets. The only other issue I have with this game is the description info on the box and in the amazon listing is way off. It sounds like the computer versions where you pick and raise the kitten, and get to feed and brush it.. but with the addition of the adventure game. NOPE. You do NOT get to create an environment or village for your kitty. The village is there, it gets messed up, and it's your job to fix it and find a way to stop the bad guy. There are NOT 60+ different adventures as noted in the description either. It's ONE adventure/story, that contains 60+ mini quests or tasks that you need to do in following the story line...some you have to complete before you can face the bad guy, some that just make the final battle a little easier, and some that are just in there for fun. Those to issues aside, it's still a wonderfully enjoyable game overall. I agree with some of the other reviews here that the adventure could have been a little longer. But the ability to go back and keep playing from your "final save before beating it" allows you to keep looking for things you may have missed, and saving more progress before the final battle... so you can keep on fishing and playing with zoo animals as much as you like. Overall this is a really great game.. and again very relaxing whether you play it yourself or watch the story unfold as your kids play. I'm on my second time through it and I'm still finding new things! I can't wait for Catz 3!!

This game is a clone of "The Dog Island",

I'm a 24-year-old female and really enjoyed The Dog Island. Although aimed at younger audiences, I still found the game very fun, relaxing (unlike so many games...), and even a little challenging at times. I then decided to buy Petz Catz 2. Mistake... This game is virtually a clone of The Dog Island and is even easier - too easy in fact. Both games are heavily focused on item-seeking quests. In The Dog Island, you have a sniff meter that increases as you get closer to the item you're looking for. Sniffing for items is basically a hot-and-cold game. In Petz Catz 2, you have an arrow that tells you exactly where to go. No more sniffing around or treasure hunting - just follow the arrow! It's so easy that it takes away from the fun.
Not only is the game play nearly identical to The Dog Island, but the levels look the same as well! I feel like Ubisoft just took The Dog Island, replaced the dog with a cat, and slapped on a new title. Very similar environments, same enemies, same items to collect. However, I can see some positive aspects to this game. First of all, the easier gameplay may be better suited for very young audiences. If, for example, your young one struggles with The Dog Island, then this is definitely the game to get. There is no frustration to be had here. Arrows will tell your child EXACTLY where to go. I enjoyed the music in this game. The Dog Island's soundtrack was peaceful, while Petz Catz 2 offers some catchy tunes. Overall, I would say that if you already own and enjoy The Dog Island, don't bother with this game. It's a duplicate with dumbed-down gameplay. However, if you're new to these animal games, then there is certainly fun to be had with Petz Catz 2. Although incredibly easy, you'll find many items to collect, a lot of quests to go on, and plenty of cute kitties! I just hope that my review has convinced you to purchase The Dog Island instead because although I am a cat person, I had a lot more fun with The Dog Island.
