In the game there are beagles, boxers, border collies, German shepherds, labs, rottweilers and huskies. You get to take care of your dog by feeding it, giving it water, and giving it baths. You can teach it tricks like sit, play dead, speak and more. Your dogs need to go outside or they will go to the bathroom in the house. The places you can take your dog are the park, living room, kitchen and bathroom. In the living room you can have photo shoots. In the bathroom you can give them baths. In the park you can play, and in the kitchen you can give your pets food and water.

I had this game years ago and when my computer died I lost the game. I just found it again thru Amazon. I ordered it to find it a bit different to what I was used to. I have been getting ready to move so I have not had much time to get use to it. It is great for the retired dog lovers who have a lot of time on their hands as well as children who need to learn about caring of a dog.

The dogs in this game are very cute, and there is a
good selection of fur patterns for them. You can unlock
things such as decorations for your house by performing
certain actions with your dog, although these actions
are not a necessary part of the game. You can play with
your dog whenever you feel like it, or just hang out
casually with your dog, but you also need to take good
care of your dog. This is a great virtual pet game,
but once you have unlocked everything, there is little action.
BOTTOM LINE: If you want an exciting dog game, you will find
this one boring. If you enjoy simply caring for dogs and
playing with them, this is a winner!!!

This is the dumbest game I have EVER played! I enjoy disney's beauty and the beast game more than this, i enjoy CLIFFORD PHONICS MORE THAN THIS!!!!! It is really fun in the beginning (Like Petz 5) but once u get rich and buy everything (2 hours) it gets old (NEVER LIKE PETZ 5). Petz 5 was awesome!! In Petz 5, Deanna Troi the Scottish Fold and Will Riker the Calico are adopted, They grow up as friends. Aww, they're adults now, what's this?? Deanna and Will are in love!! They marry and have 1 kitten, Will Jr. We now adopt Will Jr's soon-to-be wife, Beverly. They grow up and get married having a kitten named, Wesley. ETC, ETC, ETC. It's a never-ending story in Petz 5! In the NEW PETZ, I adopt a dog named Bess, she becomes rich and famous in talent shows. I quit playing, THE END! BORING AND LAME!!!!!!!!!!!!! This game is AWFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Buy Petz 5
! If you have XP then right click on the icon on your desktop, click "Properties" and click "Compatibility" (did i spell that right?) and run in compatibility mode for Windows 2000. Then it works!! Buy Petz 5 instead and don't waste your money on this useless piece of JUNK!!!Dogz 5 and Catz 5. Oh, and your Dogz and Catz can play together in Petz 5.

After watching my five year old animal enthusiast enjoy her Dogz pc game (1st edition) for long sessions, our hopes were dashed when we quickly found this cd-rom purchase riddled with glitches. The program loaded and started well with the first run but after the third pet adoption the background graphics disappeared and it required a restart. It continued to hiccup from there. From the little bit that we have been able to get it to do, I see it had the potential to be better than the previous edition (more breeds, spruced up background changes and more play room outdoors). Couldn't get much further into the game than the basics. Needless to say, I do not have much confidence in purchasing the version that follows (Dogz3). I hope to help you save yourself the hassle of trying this one because for the menial price I paid it wasn't worth the inconvenience of returning it. Save yourself the trouble and skip this version.
