Better than most!,

I probably own most horse games that are out there and to be honest don't get my hopes up too much when ordering any because of the quality of other games I brought, but I was pleasantly surprised with this game.
Here's what is good about the game:- 1.The graphics are better than most games I have encountered. The horses look and move pretty realistically. 2.I love that you can do your own thing if you want and ignore the present task, no clock counting you down 3.You can befriend any wild mustang and bring them back to the ranch 4.You can breed your own foal, choosing different parents creates a different looking foal and you can tweak some of its features before it's born. 5.All the horses you breed or bring home remain in the game - you can interact, groom and ride any of them 6.The competitions are also realistic and not too difficult (Cross Country/Show Jumping and Steeplechase) and you have to warm the horse up beforehand Here's what's not so good 1.Most of the tasks involve riding to a location (and back) so a lot of time does seem to be spent just riding and as there are only about 6 different locations I can imagine this will get a bit annoying after a while 2.Like most horse games the grooming aspect does become a bit tiresome after a while and this one is no different. The process to 'befriend' a horse is a bit repetitive as well 3.Loading time in between competitions and locations On the whole I like this game so far, definitely playable for most ages as the controls are pretty easy, I think I'm going to be playing it for a while yet.

This game had me playing for hours on end, and there is so much to do! The graphics were beautiful, and the game was easy to understand, but it wasn't too easy. I am very critical when it comes to horsey games, and I say buy it!!! You will not be disappointed!

This review is from: Petz Horse Club (DVD-ROM)
Hey! I'm using my dads' account.
Petz Horse Club is where you have ti save the mustangs from a dangerous plant effecting the horses. It's called, ''Black Clover''. In the story you meet quite a few of the other characters in Petz Horsez 2 for PS2. Overall, it's preety fun. I'm reallly ejoying it! The mini-games are easy and others are a bit challenging. It's a very good story and there's not anything that parents would find innapropiate. But read before you buy: This aspect of ''taming horses'' in the wild isn't for kids to just believe in. It's not reality and make sure your kid understands this before playing! Here's pros and cons: PROS: The graphics are excellent even sometimes it might act choppy. Maybe if you have an old computer it will act choppy. You can tame different types of horses in diff. secctions. CONS: If the game acts choppy, you may need a video card! Their easy to install and make all your other pc games work WAAAAY better! You can find them at a Computer Store. Overall, it's fun! Buy now:)

This item was delivered on time and as expected. It was for my 12 year old daughter who has tried lots of horse games, both video and computer. This is by far the best and she has played it more than any other.

A Review for Perhaps the Last in the Pippa Funnell Horse Game Series...,
By
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Petz Horse Club (DVD-ROM)
This was the fifth in the pippa funnell horse game series, Here is a list of all the pippa funnell horse games:
Pippa Funnell 1: The Stud Farm Inheritance (Saddle Up with Pippa) Pippa Funnell 2: Takes the Reins (Champion Dreams: First to Ride) Pippa Funnell 3: The Golden Stirrups Challenge (Horsez) Pippa Funnell 4: Secrets of the Ranch (Horsez 2) Pippa Funnell 5: Ranch Rescue (Petz Horse Club) Now the thing about this game that set itself apart from the others in this series was that it actually contains 2 games, Both starring a girl named Lily (Whose voice sounds just like Emma's from Petz Horsez 2), It's basically part 1 of her story and then part 2 of her story... Game 1 or Part 1 I will refer to as "Lily'as Previous Adventures" and Game 2 or Part 2 I will refer to as "Horse Club". Just so you know this works on Windows Vista or Service Pack 2, and Windows 7. The Pros and Cons of these two games are: If you have played the previous Pippa Funnell games you will have seen many characters, These two games however did not contain any of the previous Pippa Funnell characters which was somewhat dissapointing, I expected it to finish Emma and Oliver's stories or at least expand on them a bit... But instead they had a bunch of new characters who were really great but I was still a little dissapointed that they did not include some of the old characters. No Notebook, In the other previous horse games they would give you a notebook just in case you forget something and then you would press "N" and it would come up with a notebook... They didn't have it in "Lily's Previous Adventures" but they do have your "current objective" in "Horse Club". Dialogue: I was a little unhappy that there is no sound when the characters talk, You don't hear their voice, You have to read what they said, So if your child can't read they will have extreme difficutly with this program... The only time you hear the characters talk is if it is in an animation, Then and only then can you HEAR what they say... But for when they give you quests or objectives you have to read it... This was true of both these games... Except that "Horse Club" had these annoying "huh?', and "ahh!" type sounds before each person said some dialogue... I wish they had real speech in like in the earlier pippa funnell horse games. The Map: In the first of the two games "Lily's Previous Adventures" they have a map that shows you your current position... But in the second of these two games they improved on this and showed the location you wished to go also, And for extra help they have a little arrow that points you in the right direction in both games. Realism wasn't that great but I didn't mind since the game is for fun not Realism, Such as being able to talk to horses and the way you break in the horse and such... And in the second game "Horse Club" you can ride wild horses just by simply slowing walking up to them and petting them and feeding them their favorite fruit, Then you magically are given the ability to ride it. Huh?: At one of the parts in the game "Lily's Previous Adventures" Lily thinks she killed a horse, But this really made no sense because all she did was accidently let it escape into the wild, Horses can take care of themselves and that wouldn't kill it... also in another part a horse runs away fully saddled... But when she finds it, The horse dosen't have any gear at all. Lily: For "Lily's Previous Adventures" I didn't have a problem with Lily like I had with some the previous heroines in some of the earlier horse games in this series who had some attitude and disrespect problems, She wasn't rebelious and in fact worked very hard to do things for her Uncle's happiness... The only bad word she uttered in the entire game was Darn and she only uttered it once, Whereas there were girls in previous games who said worse and more often. I found her a very refreshing character whom you can really care about. SOme of the previous girls would also want "revenge" and say things like "I'll never be able to forgive you!". I think that of all of these games she was the best heroine... However she can get emotional pretty easily, She cried maybe 5 times in the first game but only cried once in "Horse Club". She was a little hasty to accuse a girl named Carla of wrong all the time, But it was quite understandable if you played "Lily's Previous Adventures". Grooming: For "Lily's Previous Adventures" This was super easy and in fact they made it enjoyable to do, Unlike the other games where you have to sit There and brush for a lonnnnnnng time, This only took a minute to do, and cleaning stall was super easy too, All you had to do was hose the dirty stuff down a sort of gutter, Super simple and easy, Also they made washing the horse take almost no time at all, Also they made breaking in the horse really easy, All it is a memory game, And it is very short also... In "Horse Club" they got rid of a few of the horse grooming activities and changed the others... They are still pretty quick but I was annoyed when you would be grooming a horse and she kept saying annoying phrases like "You'll be lovely and clean!" and "You're so dirty!"... It drove me crazy! But I suppose younger girls would enjoy these repetetive phrases. In "Lily's Previous Adventures" you can name your horses, But they had some downsides to this, When you name the horse you can't see your horse first, You are only told the breed of horse and then you must name it, It took me a while to figure out how you tell if it is a male or female, I found out that if they refer to it as a "Horse" in the naming screen, That it is a male, And they refer to it as a "Mare" if it is female. In "Horse Club" You cannot name your horses unless you bred it yourself. All other horses (Including the main horse from "Lily's Previous Adventures") were given names by the programmers... I found this somewhat annoying because I had named Lily's favorite horse from "Lily's Previous Adventures" Valiant and when I got into "Horse Club" I found his name was "Altai", If you want you can sort of fix this problem by naming him "Altai" in the first place. Saving: It automatically saves it for you which I personally disliked, You have to finish a task before it saves it, so if you were headed somewhere and you were almost there and then exited, When you got back into it you would be at the beggining of your task, But this problem wasn't as bad as in "Horse Club" where it would save it to the part just before you left the ranch, So if you left the ranch and had almost completed your objectives and then exited, You would have to do it up to that part all over again... I would have prefered that they gave you the option of saving it yourself. gave you the option of saving it yourself. Graphics are really nice, I had heard some people complain about the graphics, But I found them beautiful and quite nice actually, The water looks really nice and the scenery is amazing! For both games! The graphics were perhaps the very best of all the Pippa Funnell Games. Jumping, Cross Country, and Steeplechase, You will notice dessage wasn't in there... That's right bye bye dressage,I actually was happy that they got rid of dressage, I found dressage extremely boring, I was glad they replaced it although it wasn't gone altogether, There is a very short activity in the game that is somewhat similar to dressage, in it you chose from the gates of: canter, trot, and walk. Not turning, Just a gait changing game... So I was happy that they got rid of dressage, However I'm sure there are people who liked it more, Me not being one of those people.I especially disliked dressage because in previous Pippa Funnells you would have to earn the abilities to do things like "Collected Walk" and "Extended Trot"... Even if you knew how to do them they wouldn't work until you earned the ability... I prefered this game cause you had what you knew how to do... and that was just super! Now as for Cross Country, If you have played the previous horse games you will notice you control when the horse jumps, in this one you rarely do, For Cross Country and when you are just free roaming outside the Ranch, You do not control when the horse jumps. You just control the direction and speed of the jump, This is more realistic because in the earlier games you would control when your horse jumps when really it's the horse that does the jumping, You are the rider... It took me a while to figure this out, For most of the game I was pressing the space bar at the jumps thinking it was necessary when I accidently didn't press the spacebar and the horse jumped anyways, Then I realized I could have been saying all that time "Look! One hand!" :P Jumping is different from Cross Country in that you CAN and HAVE TO choose when your horse jumps, But it is only in Jumping events and training that you choose when your horse jumps. Possibley Objectional or Disagreeable Content and the Morals: The lesson of both these games was to never hit a horse and abuse it, In the second game "Horse Club" Lily is working with wild horses on a reserve and trying to increase the mustang population, Mention of pregnancy, Infertility, fertility, and illegal experiments on horses (the experiments are done by the "bad guys") may be considered objectionable... Also in the second game "Horse Club" a Mother horse dies. In the first game "Lily's Previous Adventures" There is some violence toward horses and the threat of violence toward people. Of the two of these games, The first "Lily's Previous Adventures" and the second "Horse Club"... I thought that "Lily's Previous Adventures" were more fun to play, It seemed way longer and had more story to it, While the second basically had you tame a couple of horses in a matter of minutes and have an annoying task of going back and forth between the ranch and the reserve areas to pick plants and such... Once in the game they do it three times in a row, They tell you to go get a sample of saliva from a mare and then you get it, You bring it back they tell you to go get another one and then you need to go looking for a horse that wandered off WHILE you were getting the samples! It was pretty annoying... I prefered the first one because it had more story than the other one "Horse Club"... However of the two games "Horse Club" had more activities you could do once you finished the game. In "Lily's Previous Adventures" you could only play a few minigames and compete in competitions... Whereas in "Horse Club" you can have up to two players in a multiplay match, tame every horse, and continue playing competitions, So it had a little more to offer for after you finish the story. So despite the downs in this game, The ups were far greater... I think that this may just have been the best of the entire Pippa Funnel Series, Or at least in my top two.

BEWARE of the minimum system requirements... including the small print!,
By
This review is from: Petz Horse Club (DVD-ROM)
We have 5 computers in our home. All fit the minimum system requirements as listed (with the exception of the two video cards supported that they have listed in the fine print). This game only works on one of our five computers (the one purchased last week, which is my wife's business computer). This game was purchased for my daughter, to run on her computer, which does fit the minimum system requirements, but will not work. VERY FRUSTRATING to both her and myself. It may be returned (much to my daughter's disappointment). Shame on you UBISOFT! How can you market a product that will only work with two VERY SPECIFIC video cards... hardware that the average user has NO CLUE about?

The horses look really cool. The graphics are neat! The show jumping competition sucks. You dont have any practice jumping and then you get thrown into this competition and when you just ride around the ranch you dont have to press anything to make the horse jump. you have to press something to make them jump in the show jumping competition. Its stupid really. Other than that its really cool to breed the mares and take care of the horses.
