Design Excellence,
This review is from: Petzl E02 P2 e+LITE Headlamp with Integrated Whistle (Tools & Home Improvement)
It is DELIGHTFUL to see well-designed products, and this is one of the better ones I've seen. The slider on the head-band is also a whistle; part of the whistle is sized so it can be used to open the battery cover. The light face swivels 360 degrees so it always points where you need it. And not only can it be worn with the head-band, but integral to it is also a clip for belt or hat-bill. Did I mention that clip serves double-duty to protect the face of the light? The case is water-proof, and imprinted on the side of the case are, on one side, Morse Code for SOS, and on the other the universal signals for OK and HELP. Oh, yes, and it has lights, too!

The best headlamp I have ever owned!,

I bought this in preparation for a week long backpacking trip, I needed something to replace my mini Mag Lite, but something lighter than my other headlamps.
I purchased this on a whim, it looked nice, but the price seemed a bit steep. Either way it is now the only light I use, I've even bought another to keep in the car in case of emergencies. It's form following function with every feature. It's the iPod of headlamps, it may not be the brightest or have the most bells and whistles, but, it's simple, intuitive, and perfect for everyone from outdoorsmen to traveling salesmen.

super compact, extremly light, Bright at the first 30 minutes,

The first thing I want to say is "This headlamp is super light!" How heavy can a headlamp be? Well, wait until it is on your head. I did not think the weight would be such a big deal until I tried one. Then I decided the weight is most important to me for my weekend camping. I spend a good 2 or 3 hours at the campsite after dark, then I go for a night walk after super. This headlamp is so light that I can have it on my head all the time and I don't mind it at all. My friends' headlamps are not heavy by any means, but it is still impossible to have it on the head all the time like mine can. They have to put it on the head then turn it on when they need it. And they pull the headlamp down to the neck the second they turn it off.
My headlamp is so small that I hang it on my neck like a necklace when I go to sleep. This way I can easily find it when I get up in the middle of the night for bathroom or something. It is bright the first 30 minutes of continuous use. But it almost returns to its original brightness after you turn it off for a while, then turn it back on. I am extremely happy with my headlamp. I know there are super rugged headlamps and there are super bright headlamps. But I have surefire flash lights if I really want that bright. I guess it all depends on what you need the headlamp for. If you only want to see within 10 or 20 feet range, get a small light-weight headlamp. If you need to constantly look for faraway objects with your hands occupied, get one of those expensive super bright headlamps. Of course if you camp a lot, you always need a really good flash light. The only time I did not carry a flash light (I always have my headlamp with me because it is so compact), I was in trouble. So, I don't ever want to replace the surefire with a headlamp.

Well Done,
This review is from: Petzl e+Lite Emergency Headlamp with Integrated Whistle (Misc.)
I took this overseas while deployed with military units. It was a great companion to keep in my pocket all day long. When caught after sundown on a Forward Operations Base (FOB) or Combat Operations Post (COP) it was a life saver to have. It's brightness was fantastic for it's size, the red light kept me less visible from prying eyes and it was easy to use, even with gloves. You should never be in an outhouse without one either. I've taken it on camping and fishing trips domestically and find it to be the perfect size to have with me in a convenient package. Now I have higher output headlamps for mission specific duties, but this is like a handgun. Having one with you when you need it is better than having the "perfect" one at home when the time comes.
Good job Petzl.

I like to read myself to sleep at night....my husband does not and the light from a bedside lamp lights up the whole room. My daughter-in-law had a new baby and she uses the Petzl when she gets up at night to check on the baby, fix a bottle, etc. to keep from lighting up the whole house. While I was visiting, she suggested that I try her Petzl for reading at night. Worked like a charm so I ordered one as soon as I got home. I use the low light setting and can aim the beam directly at my book; the rest of the room is dark. It's light weight so I hardly know it's there. OK, so I look a little like a coal miner going to work, but it's definitely worth it for me to be able to read and my husband can get to sleep in the dark. I've tried the booklights before, but they didn't work nearly as well as the Petzl and the battery lasts much longer.

Without a doubt this is a product designed to meet all expectations.
The lamp has many options for lighting, adjustable intensity and even a flashing light system for emergency cases, which is extremely valuable and useful. You can choose between a red or white light Despite its size the lamp provides an excellent lighting capacity and is also very easy to wear on a hat, a vest, shirt, etc ... Practically no weight and his case is waterproof, very solid and visible. Very comfortable when worn around the head directly The whistle is a very good addition and powerful Only requires one battery to operate. Its manufacture is very solid and reliable. I highly recommend this product as it offers many advantages and is of excellent quality and even more it is waterproof...

Someone was thinking when they designed the e+LITE. The option between red and white light is convenient. As are the intensity options. It is light weight and compact. Wearing the light, you hardly notice it. The light intensity is good for reading and other camp chores, but it is not as bright as my wife's Petzl Tikkina. It is a reasonable trade for the decreased weight.
The design touches that impressed me are the toggle and the ability to adjust light position. The toggle is a whistle. The button on the toggle fits the back of the battery compartment on the light. No need to hunt around for a quarter to open the battery compartment. The swivel head on the light is very handy. As are the clips that allow you to attach the light to a hat, etc.

Great product!!,
This review is from: Petzl E02 P2 e+LITE Headlamp with Integrated Whistle (Tools & Home Improvement)
I love this lil' light! I use other headlamps for hiking and for projects around the house so,this one lives buried in the depths of my glove box for times when I'm needing a light and not at home. It's small, lightweight and throws an amazing amount of light for its size. What's great is that when I need it, it works. Because it uses a lithium battery, it lasts unlike headlamps that rely on alkaline and the like. It's been in the car for 5 years and is still going strong.
I also like the case that it fits in. It keeps the headband from getting wrapped around everything else. Just so you know, the case itself isn't waterproof. It's a little bit of pain to tuck the headband back into the case when done but it's a small concession for having an unobtrusive light at the ready all of the time. If my hiking headlamp wasn't so dependable, I would be carrying this either as my main light or a backup. I'm very weight conscious and this thing weighs next to nothing so, it wouldn't be a big deal to toss it in the pack. As for the light output, I only use the brightest setting which is the norm for me when using any headlamp so, I can't comment on the output/usefulness of the lesser settings. I do have two of these headlamps and the other one lives in my photography bag. Again, it's great because it's compact and obscure, but what's also nice is that the single red lamp is just right for lighting things up during late evening and nighttime sessions without trashing my night vision. I don't think I'd be trusting the one red bulb as a signaling device or hazard warning, tho. The only negative is the price....

Saved my arse on Rainier,
By
This review is from: Petzl E02 P2 e+LITE Headlamp with Integrated Whistle (Tools & Home Improvement)
My primary headlight took a dump on me at about 3 in the morning while leading two rope teams up Rainier. Needless to say, I was in a bit of a pickle. Good thing I had the e+lite in the top of my pack. Used it as a backup and found it may actually have been brighter than my primary light when my primary headlamp was still working!!
After it saved me from being in a tough situation, I've learned my lesson (luckily not the hard way thanks to the e+lite) and always have it in my pack regardless of how long I plan on heading into the hills. |
