Product Description

From the Manufacturer

This headlamp incorporates the latest in hands-free lighting technology. The primary light source is a Xenon Halogen bulb surrounded by a multi-textured parabolic reflector. There are also 5 super-bright white LEDs which are controlled with a current regulator providing even light output, three brightness settings, and a reserve battery mode thus extending your burn times up to 160 hours. Power source: 4 AA batteries (included)

Product Description

Headlamp with dual light sources: Xenon halogen bulb + 5 LEDs The MYO 5 is intended for demanding users whose needs alternate between long-range lighting and extended battery life. The rotating bezel switch allows easy selection between the three brightness settings (LED), or distance vision (Xenon halogen bulb). In this way, the user can adapt the lighting level to the activity. Ideal for mountaineers, adventure racers, or anyone moving quickly under variable lighting conditions. The three lighting levels (LED) are regulated by an electronic system: an optimum level, ideal for walking or general use, a maximum level, ideal for climbing or moving quickly on technical ground, an economy level, ideal for reading maps, setting up a tent... When the batteries are almost completely discharged, the system switches to reserve power mode, providing proximity lighting and greatly extending burn time. Also available in NOIR version: black elastic headbands, battery pack and lamp head. Technical specifications : Operates with 4 AA alkaline batteries (included). 138 g (without batteries). Supplied with spare 6 V Xenon halogen bulb.

4.0 out of 5 stars I dream of this headlamp., July 17, 2003
This review is from: Petzl E28P MYO 5 Headlamp (Tools & Home Improvement)
I have only had the oppurtunity to play with this lamp at the outdoor store nearby. I wore it around the store for almost half an hour. But it seems to be a super powerful and durable lamp. I like being able to setthe brightness, which this allows 3 settings.

I need a new one for my caving helmet, the other 2 Petzl's, Tikka and Zipka, were not up to the harsh conditions, nor were they waterproof. I wonder if they will think me insane if I return and ask to submerge it in a sink or something. The other 2 did not need much depth, as they have no seals.

Seems comfortable when wearing without the helmet, which I NEVER do in or around a cave. But the straps seem as they will stay put on my hemet without aid of duct tape.

I especially like the tilting head. This way I do not have my head in my chest so I can try to see something, causes neck cramps.

This is a pricey one, but if it works as well as it seems and is truly waterproof, the investment is well worth the $$$.

5.0 out of 5 stars myo 5 headlamp, November 22, 2005
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Petzl E28P MYO 5 Headlamp (Tools & Home Improvement)
This versatile headlamp is for adventurers that need variable lighting under harsh conditions. I mainly use this headlamp when I am camping or doing other outdoor activity such as looking for salamanders in the rain (for me the headlamp keeps the water out pretty well), running around at night at my cousin's house, or for going under the house to scare my sister with noises or other work like that. One disadvantage is that the Xenon halogen bulb sucks up juice like a hummer, so only use the halogen only when necessary. The top strap and the lightness of the lamp make it so that when you are walking or running the lamp does not slip down over your face (a problem I had with my previous Tikka Plus headlamp by Petzl). Otherwise I think that this is the perfect headlamp for adventurers or people that are trying to have fun.
