5.0 out of 5 stars Good, no frills headlamp
This is a good little product. The headlamp angle can be adjusted, so that it points straight ahead, or down at an angle. The light is bright and the headband is adjustable. It folds up very small and is very lightweight. I have it in my camera bag, but it can fit into a pocket. It opens easily and runs on 3 AAA batteries, which came with the headband. I think it is...

1.0 out of 5 stars DO NOT PURCHASE ANYTHING FROM BARSKA
Before Christmas, I ordered a camera tripod and $14.95 headlamp from Barska. I received the tripod (cheaply constructed in China) as ordered along with a $150.00 spotting scope rather than the $14.95 headlamp. I immediately sent an email with specifics including the item number and description of the item erroneously shipped and requested means for return. I also asked...

I think it is great for those times when you can't carry a flashlight in your hand and you need just a little quality light on the subject, but it would never replace a professional grade headlamp.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just right for running, November 22, 2010

I was unsure what headlamp to purchase and went to the Petzl website to see what they recommended, and this was the result. The strap is easy to adjust, the light is bright, and it works great for running. I usually wear a hat when I run, so the ability to rotate the light downward (3 settings) is a must-have that I had not considered before purchasing.

This headlamp has been a great addition to our tool arsenal. We use it in the attic, under the sink, walking the dog. The useful high beam, low beam and flashing options have all come in handy. We waited WAY too long to get this item. Well worth the money!

4.0 out of 5 stars Guarantees free hands, March 21, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I gave this 4 stars because of the price. The performance deserves 5 stars.

My HVAC guy had a head lamp like this one and I knew I needed one too. He said he picked up 5 of them at Home Depot for what I'd paid for this one on Amazon but in spite of the cost, this light has been worth what I paid. It gives me the freedom to work with both hands free in tight, dark places and has saved me both time and frustration. Its bright LED light has also been really helpful in reading the small print in documents and for reading bedtime stories to my daughter in her dimly lit bedroom. She also uses it to read her books in the car when we're driving after dark. For the driver, it is much better than if she used the dome light.

The headlamp a very useful product. I only hope it is as durable as it is useful.

5.0 out of 5 stars Video Review of the PEtz PT Tikka 2, October 30, 2010

Length:: 1:54 Mins

I love my Petzl headlamp! It is both comfortable and provides me with plenty of light. I have used other headlamps that caused me to have headaches from a poor fit - i am happy to report that with the Petzl I have been headache free.

Things that I like

- Uses (3) standard AAA batteries.
- Very bright at the highest setting.
- Three setting - high, low, and strobe
- Wel build - does not feel cheap or flimsy.
- Comfortable fit

Areas for improvement

- Not sure... I guess it would be cool if it had built-in rechargeable batteries

Final verdict - A great headlamp that has plenty bright, well built, and very comfortable - I couldn't ask for more (especially at this price).

5 Stars

5.0 out of 5 stars Bright and Light, November 21, 2006
By
I run about five times a week, mostly outdoors and mostly after work. During the winter months it gets dark early and navigating the back trails in around the city can be treacherous. I also run on the street and need to make sure that cars see me clearly.

The Petzl Tikka XP Headlamp is fabulous. It's bright and light. I run with several groups and all have similar comments: "wow. is that a flashlight? it's so bright." The weight is also not noticeable. The band fits comfortably around the head or you can carry it in your hand while running. The settings can be easily manipulated. Depending on where I am in the pack, I frequently tilt the lamp to focus the beam ahead or down while I am running.

I have only had the unit for a couple of weeks and, therefore, can't comment on battery life. But I expect that I won't have to change the battery very frequently.

Overall, I am very happy with the product and recommend it highly.

I have bought 3 Petzel's. The first one had a switch (hard to turn on) and the second was the next step up from this one. This is the best deal of the three. It has a wide viewing angle and is bright.

I purchased this item for running out in the country where it is very dark before the sun comes up. This headlamp lights my way VERY well and I absolutely love it. I wish I had not waited so long to purchase this because it has really extended my outdoor running season. If you really need something to light your way, this is the product for you. I would highly recommend it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for the price, February 24, 2010

I bought my first Petzl headlamp about 4-5 years ago for camping but immediately kept it in the house because it was so immensely useful. It cost $50 at the time, but I could work on computers, the car, or get in the tight spaces behind my TV so that I could use both hands. What a time saver! I can't believe this was in the camping section because I've used it camping once, but around the house about 2-3x a week for the last 4-5 years.

I have a couple of reasons for giving this 5 stars. First, I bought it on a Gold Box special, so it was only $20. Second, the brightness is incredible. It's like 10x brighter than my other Petzl.

It's not top-of-the-line, obviously, but for the price I paid I have more features than I expect, which is why I give this 5 stars.

I bought this one to put in the car in case of emergency but now I'm struggling because I don't know if I should put this one in the car or put the old one in the car. I've never had an emergency in the car so it's a preventative measure, but at the same time, I don't want to be stuck with a headlamp that isn't bright enough in an emergency situation. My solution is that I put the new one in the car (just in case), but that I'm probably going to buy another one for the brightness factor.

Suffice it to say that I am very happy with Petzl and have definitely gotten my money's worth out of their products...

4.0 out of 5 stars Utilitarian, and darn good at it too., July 28, 2010
This review is from: Petzl E93 PS Tikka 2 Headlamp, Storm Gray (Kitchen)
Bought the Tikka for night climbing and hiking. For the price, it's a good little headlamp. Not as bright as some of the higer-priced models, so if you're doing prolonged hiking I'd suggest a better model. But the tilt-down lamp is great for hiking, and flashing beam is great for night biking in the place of a front reflector. Got mine for $4, so I'm definitely not complaining. But I'd go for this one over the Tikkina any day. It's only $10 more, but there's a huge leap in quality.
