Versatility and Power
Equipped with a ZIP retractable cord system--which allows you to wear the headlamp on the head or wrist, or attached to any other support--the Zipka Plus2 is versatile and powerful. It integrates two light sources for versatility: one white, high-output LED and one red LED. The white LED delivers 50 lumens in maximum mode and lights up to 35 meters. In economic mode, it can achieve a burn-time of 140 hours.
The red LED provides lighting to preserve night vision or to become a flashing light for increased safety, for example if you're changing a tire on the side of the road. The Zipka Plus2 can also be used with lithium batteries to decrease weight or increase performance in cold weather.
Ultra-Compact, User-Friendly Design
25% more compact than Tikka2, the Zipka Plus2 won't weigh you down. It has a single, hinged LED and battery compartment for easier access along with a more user-friendly closure system. For further convenience, the water-resistant housing offers extra protection against the elements.
Easy Operation
As easy to use as it is comfortable, the Zipka Plus2 operates via an electric push-button switch that lets you quickly transition from one mode to another. For added convenience, this switch limits inadvertently turning on the lamp during storage, so you won't waste the batteries.
The Zipka Plus2 comes with three AAA alkaline batteries and is backed by a three-year warranty.
About Petzl: Innovative Designs, Practical Approach
Petzl, a family company, was born out of Fernand Petzl's passion for caving. One of the leading experts of his generation, Fernand spent his life experimenting with vertical progression techniques, and he invented equipment that radically changed the status quo. The Petzl company applied these underground tools and solutions to other vertical environments: first to the mountains--rock climbing and mountaineering--and then to the professional sector, with work and rescue at-height. The Petzl company quickly became known as the foremost innovator in the vertical world and has been associated with all major underground, alpine, and Himalayan adventures since the 1970s.
Today, Petzl is the leader of hands-free lighting. Petzl revolutionized the industry starting with the Zoom, and then the Tikka--the first compact light. The company moved forward to introduce the state-of-the-art e+Lite and Ultra, and it continues to work with outdoor sports enthusiasts and professionals to create innovative, practical, high-quality lighting and climbing products.

I am a tenured user of these lights, and they are well worth the money. This light has the red LED mode and does flashing and on all the time in that mode. Otherwise it has no advantage over the 4 led model (which is cheaper). It actually seems slightly less bright than the 4 LED in white mode. The red light (which is only one bulb, contrary to how it looks) is very dim but enough to walk home if your eyes were adjusted. More important distinction is to buy the push button model (this one or the 4 led), the slide switch on the (even cheaper still) 3 LED model wears out over time.

This is the first time I could call a headlamp "addictive." I got this lamp and continually friends and strangers alike are enticed into acquiring one, sometimes even before seeing it in action! I carry this with me religiously, and it is small and light enough to be unobtrusive in almost any pocket. This is a fully-functioning light, good for hiking, slow mountain biking, or getting caught in an epic while rock-climbing. I had an older model which was thoroughly abused, and the spectra cord got slightly furry, but never showed signs of failing. I lost it before I was able to kill it.
PROS: -Light -Small -Bright -Even Beam -Red Light -Battery Indicator -Mega-Durable (no wires, impact-resistant) -Batteries change out in the dark more easily than previous model/ some other headlamps -Wrist-wearable, auto-adjust for hats, helmets, neck, etc. CONS: -Can be tangly for long/fine hair -Can slide around on long-haired people -Bike handlebar-mount trick doesn't really work for me -Tilting must be done by moving it around on your head (or moving your head around)

My new favorite headlamp,

This review is from: Petzl E98 PM Zipka Plus 2 Headlamp, Mystic Gray (Tools & Home Improvement)
I own a handfull of headlamps, including Petzl's Myo RXP, an old Black Diamond, and several other random headlamps I've collected. This is now my go-to headlamp. The retractable cord is fantastic. I really like being able to wrap it around my arm, tree limbs, poles, or whatever. Might not be great for runners, but it fits comfortably around my head and doesn't fall out of place. The beam is bright enough without blinding. I don't normally use the strobe, but the strobe effect on this is much more "strobe" like and not just on/off blinking than any other light I've used. The red lamp is another great feature and I use the red beam about 25% of the time now. The light doesn't tilt, but beam is enough of a flood that it hardly matters to me.
