Also the gate on this model has fractional wobble in it - not grounds for ditching but just not as bomber as the mammut.

With a little practice, I'd say just about anyone could manipulated it one handed.

For those not familiar with the Petzl Tri-Act Lock design; it works by pulling up on the lock, then rotating 90 degrees, then pushing the gate open. NICE! With a little practice, I'd say just about anyone could manipulated it one handed. I'm not a climber but I think climbers will be happy with this design.

How about some specs:
Weight - 88g
Over All Dimensions - 4-5/8" from (longest point) center of top to bottom of lower loop, 3-1/8" (widest point) top of rear to top of gate 3/4" (thickest point) gate
Interior Dimensions - 3-1/2" (tallest interior space) measured along back rail, 2-7/8" (widest interior space) measured along top rail, 3-3/8" measured from inside of gate loop to bottom loop, minimum gate clearance 1"
Max Stress - Pulling stress top to bottom closed: 25kN, Pulling stress top to bottom open: 7kN, Pulling stress to width closed: 7kN

I feel a bit silly reviewing this, but here goes. It's a solid auto-locker that I really like. Seems to function well, and is easy to work with one hand (though I'm on the big side, so someone with smaller hands may not agree). When it first arrived, the locking mechanism seemed to catch the tiniest bit, but it went away after a couple hours of use. I'd recommend this product, and I'll be purchasing another if I ever set up another belay set.

This is a good massive locking biner. I don't like it as much as the Mammut bionic but it is larger so I continue to carry it for setting up a god point on belays. I strongly recommend you forgo the stupid idiot-proof version and get the screwgate. Why? Because every screw gate works basically the same, but there are about 27 different kinds of stupid-deterring designs. Learning them all is impossible. Just learn screwgates, use them, love them.

As a comparison (and why this only gets 4 stars) - when you screw this closed and shut it grates like nails on a chalkboard because the threads aren't cut very well, or perhaps they were cut after the anodization. Compare that to the Mammut bionic and it's like the bionic is oiled. Is that unsafe? No. But it's just not as nice. Also the gate on this model has fractional wobble in it - not grounds for ditching but just not as bomber as the mammut. But it's HUGE so I keep two of them on me.

This is great device- love the added safety of the automatic lock. I use it with my belay device - both ATC and grigri.

I have lots of different carabiners and of the locking variety this is one of my favorites. Easy to open by touch, operates quickly, and is very well made. I've purchased several of these for my climb team.

excellent very good carabiner, when passing a spending a thick rope is excellent addition to its automated system that is easily accessible and very safe when climbing, that could be manipulated with one hand with 2 or 3 times with practical use, I recommend it, the seller is an excellent person and responsible, I recommend it for future purchases.

Lift, twist and open. Double lock, very strong, well made. It is a large size, but I use it with the click-up belay device.
