I have a 14 year-old American Eskimo who still likes to chew daily. Before buying this, we had her in for an annual dental, but I honestly don't think she's going to need it any more. My only caution on this is to not overdo the gel dosage. Whenever I do, she's keen to find grass to munch on to settle her stomach. A few times, she's thrown up. So I'm learning, and as long as I use the correct dose, she's fine.
The spray is a good idea, but harder to use. I'm never sure if I'm getting it where it needs to go.

My 8 year old dog has been through 2 tooth cleaning surgeries and I didn't want to put her through another, so I thought I'd try these products to improve the tartar build up on her teeth. She didn't really care for the taste of the gel, so at breakfast time I mix it with about 1/2 teaspoon of peanut butter and she eats it all up. I withhold water for half an hour so the gel sits on her teeth a while. At bedtime, I give her 3 sprays of the spray. I have been doing this for 13 days. Today I scratched at the tartar with my nail....and it cracked right off. I cannot believe my eyes !! I have scratched all her teeth and they are now all an amazing pearly white. Buy these products and never subject your dog to tooth cleaning surgery again !! FANTASTIC products !!

It actually works. It is easy to use and my dogs don't mind the application. It is definitely a less invasive means of cleaning your pet's teeth than by a Veteranarian cleaning--No anesthesia required.

This product works - but at the cost of possible liver damage from the alcohol. I have read many places of this being the case, but thought I would try and have liver enzymes tested. Yep, my dog's liver enzymes were elevated, and that was using only half the recommended dosage. No liver problems before. Be aware, use with caution.

I was looking for a low cost method to control tartar on my 9 yr old pom and came across the website for Petzlife. I was very leary about the product; many sites that advertise for "natural" products don't work. I went through reading reviews and found the majority in favor. So I figured why not? Certainly it was worth a $20 shot versus a $300 vet bill. I've used it for a week now and the tartar is almost completely gone on my dog's front teeth. She doesn't like the taste either but not enough to fight me on it. I would highly recommend this product. The product so far has not affected her in any way.

We've used this product for about a month now, and it definately took some tartar off my pet's teeth. We've tried other toothpaste for dogs but this one definately is much better.

I've only been using the gel for 3 days on both my shih tzu and my malamute, but i am already seeing drastic results.
I need to learn how to post customer pictures because let me tell you, my malamute has had severe tartar build up on the back teeth and the vet was nagging me to get a scaling because it will only get worse. mind you, scaling for my dog wouldve cost anywhere north of $200. instead, i told my vet to give me a week to decide, and came online and ordered this wonderful product. i am 3 days in and have been using the petzgel twice a day as instructed. fortunately my dog doesnt mind my touching her teeth, so when she was tired from playing at the dog park today, i laid her down on my lap and used the pointy part of my cuticle pusher to see if i can scrape some of it off. prior to the petzgel, ive tried this same procedure numerous times in attempts to at least slow down the tartar building up, but with no success. they are very tough and as hard as the tooth itself, so it did not scrape at all. but the results i got today were so miraculous that i had to jump to my computer to write this review. i got my malamute in a relaxed position, opened her mouth and started scraping the tooth which had the most build up. after a couple pushes, i saw the rock hard tartar CRACK in front of my eyes! so easily and so effortlessly! the whole thing literally cracked into 3 big pieces and when i picked them off her teeth, that one tooth shined like a new penny. im excited for my dog's next vet visit so i can show off her healthy white teeth, and tell the vet it did not require any medical procedure.
so please, do yourself a favor, and purchase this product. the gel and the spray are the exact same formulas and the only difference is in the ease of application.

I bought this for my chihuahua and Chinese Crested girls. I used it for awhile then brought them in for their annual blood tests. Their ALT's (liver enzymes) were high. So, I started checking everything they were getting to see what could cause it. I read about liver enzyme levels and discovered that high ALT's is often a sign of alcoholism. That's when I noticed that a primary ingredient (1st or 2nd) in this product is grain alcohol. Did it cause the liver problems? I dont know for sure. Then years later, in case it wasn't to blame, I tried it again, just a tiny bit, much less than they recommend, on my chihuahua whose teeth were bad. she's a bit old, and I didn't want her to get a reg. teeth cleaning. That night she was woozy, disoriented and swaying around during her walk. That's it. I threw it away and will never use it again.
