This review is from: Peugeot Fidji 8-1/4-Inch Pepper Mill, Natural (Kitchen)
I had a lesser pepper mill for many years and found it very functional. I didn't see the need for a premium pepper mill because I figured they all grind pepper, right? HOW WRONG I WAS! When it came time to replace my pepper mill, I did some research and was impressed with the feel of the premium mills at the gormet kitchen stores. Of all the brands that I saw I was most impressed with the Peugeot and Williams Bond. After looking at the mechanisms I felt that the Peugot looks and feels more solid than the Williams Bond. I also liked the infinately variable grind selector which the peugeot has. When using the pepper mill, the peugeot feels solid. it never gets stuck on a pepper corn like my old one used to. The cast steel grind mechanism is designed with channels to guide the pepper corns to the grinder. It cracks the pepper corns before the final grind. But the important part is what comes out the bottom. The fine pepper grind is finer than I've seen on any other mill, similar to a fine dust. At any grind selection, the pepper is very consistant. My old mill used to get loosened up when used a lot, so I had to keep adjusting it, not with my Peugeot, you can select extremely fine to coarse and thats what you will get. I'm getting one of these for my mom.
