5.0 out of 5 stars A STELLAR Product From A Reputable Company - PEUGEOT!
Peugeot has been making pepper mills since 1842, I think they know of where they speak. I know that this is an expensive pepper mill, but it is WELL WORTH it's price. Very well made and sturdy, this selection, the Peugeot Fidji 8-inch peppermill brings true fashion and sleek looks to any dining room or kitschy kitchen table.

This mill has a black-colored hardwood base...

3.0 out of 5 stars Looks good, works poorly.
The fineness-coarseness of the grind cannot be adjusted except by tightening it down. I gets very tight, but tends to loosen up with each grind until you notice large chunks of peppercorn in your food. Unless it's screwed down so tight that you cannot grind at all, it leaves quite a pool of peppercorns on the table. Pretty clumsily made, I think.

5.0 out of 5 stars A STELLAR Product From A Reputable Company - PEUGEOT!, June 3, 2004
This review is from: Peugeot PM17156 Fidji 8.25 Inch Pepper Mill, Black Matte (Kitchen)

This mill has a black-colored hardwood base and a stainless-steel dome that proudly bears the Peugeot mark. The mill's channeling grooves line up those fussy little peppercorns in exact precision with the grinding grooves, thusly cracking the corns in half before the actual fine grinding process.
Adjustable grinding from the top of the mill is easy to use and makes the pepper either beach sand fine or coarsely ground like coffee. All according to your taste buds!

I have purchased two cheaper pepper mills in the $15 to $25 range in the past 10 years and they lasted approximately 2 to 3 years. Don't waste your money on an inexpensive mill. You get what you pay for and you sure get a GREAT, LIFETIME pepper mill in Peugeot's products!

This is a product that I use several times DAILY, a product and company that I believe in and highly recommended!

HAPPY GRINDING!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Product., February 28, 2006

Clean lines. Attractive in kitchen or dining room. Perfect size, some grinders are way too bulky/clunky for table use. Holds a fair amount of peppercorns. Only drawback is if you need a coarse grind, you have to adjust the nut almost to the point where the top is coming off. At that point the grinding action becomes so loose that pepper kind of "sprays" around your target rather than on it. A great product for super-fine to medium grinds. I like most of my pepper ground coarsely, so overall, this is merely a good product.

5.0 out of 5 stars Food is a vehicle for pepper..., November 26, 2006
This review is from: Peugeot PM17156 Fidji 8.25 Inch Pepper Mill, Black Matte (Kitchen)
(... and butter, olive oil, spices and garlic.) My first Peugeot mill lasted me the better part of 20 years. Peugeot mills are an excellent value because the mechanism is well designed and durable. The style of the Fidji mill is nice, but the fact is -- it kicks out the pepper exactly like I like it. Experiment with pepper blends because of the varying densities, but I use this grinder for Tellicherry and similar peppercorns. It's definitely easier to clean than the old school designs. I have the matching salt mill, just to have a pair for serving, but it's not necessary to have the Peugeot salt mill from a functional standpoint. A salt mill with a ceramic mechanism is preferable due to the corrosive nature of salt+steel.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice mix of metal and wood, January 8, 2011

This review is from: Peugeot PM17156 Fidji 8.25 Inch Pepper Mill, Black Matte (Kitchen)
A nice mix of metal and wood, but not as clean lined as some earlier Peugeot pepper mills. While not an adjsutable grind, it gives a nice coarse grind that you would expect from Peugeot. Have used Peugeot for years and felt confident giving as a gift.

Bought this as my previous pepper mill was no longer functioning, i.e. grinding the pepper. Also because my friend, who is an avid home cook, has had the same product for about 6 years and it works now just as well as when it was new. It will grind very fine to chunky, whatever you wish and is a well-made product. Enjoy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Superior Grind!, March 1, 2009
By
This review is from: Peugeot PM17156 Fidji 8.25 Inch Pepper Mill, Black Matte (Kitchen)
I first saw this on Food Network used by Michael Chiarello, and was intrigued enough to buy this as I had three other mills of varying grind size and spotty quality. I like to have different sizes of grind, and find this mill the perfect mill for general use, leaving the others for specialized use (coarse grind, pink peppercorns, etc). I am extremely impressed by the uniformity of the grind, the ease of use, and the feel of this grinder. I now have two, one in cherry for white pepper and one in black for black pepper and highly recommend this product.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fits nicely in hand..., June 8, 2008
By
This review is from: Peugeot PM17156 Fidji 8.25 Inch Pepper Mill, Black Matte (Kitchen)
This pepper mill is elegant, easy to use and fits nicely in hand. I tend to only grind in one direction, so can't recollect the difference between fine grind and coursely ground pepper. Really like it and would buy it again.

1.0 out of 5 stars lightweight tin top, October 25, 2007
This review is from: Peugeot PM17156 Fidji 8.25 Inch Pepper Mill, Black Matte (Kitchen)
I was quite surprised at the very thin sheet metal top. i expected more from Peugeot, especially at this price. i'm afraid this will dent if i just knock it over on the table. I guess I should have known better than to expect a solid metal topper, but that is what it looks like, and i bought it to get something 'substantial' - not a thin, hollow sheet metal bulb. waste of money. it grinds OK, though.
