My perfect Sazerac recipe:

- 1 1/2 oz Rye
- 3 dashes Peychauds bitters
- 1 sugar cube
- splash (1/4 oz) Absinthe

Shake the Rye, bitters, and sugar cube with ice in a cocktail shake. Let sit. Pour the absinthe into an Old Fashioned glass. Tip it to coat the whole inside of the glass. Then strain the ice out of the mix and add it to the glass.

A few drops of Peychaud are an absolute must to enjoy a traditional Sazerac cocktail ... and I find a dash with the Angostura in a Manhattan enchances the flavors of both!

Love Peychaud's Bitters (running neck-and-neck with Fee Brothers Aromatic Bitters - which are also sublime!) They add to the PERFECT Manhattan! Much better than Angostura Bitters and Angostura isn't bad, is it? It is just that Peychaud's and Fee Brothers are so much more complex and flavorful. Yum. Thrilling for the tongue.

Love these bitters
These bitters are my favorite, slightly cherry taste. Gin + Soda Water + Lime Wedge + Peychauds = Delicous. Don't buy Angostora, which pales in comparison.

Best Bitters Ever
Light, floral, fruity - an asset to so many different drinks. And a wonderful accent in cooking as well. I always keep an extra bottle of this on hand.

Peychaud's Bitters
The bitters were delivered quickly, and my Sazeracs are now authentic--with the exception of substituting Jim Beam Rye for Sazerac Rye.

mandatory for Sazerac
If you want a New Orleans authentic Sazerac, you need these.

Necessary for a sazerac
These are necessary in a sazerac. I would not, like another reviewer, replace Angostura bitters in my manhattans with this, however. Read more
