Pfaltzgraff 's Ocean Breeze pattern is designed to mimic the colors of the ocean as it gets deeper and deeper: in shallower water you see a light green, followed by a darker bluish green as the depth increases, and finally, a deep blue in the deepest depths. Those three colors, in that order, are what you see on each plate and cup in this dinnerware set, complementing the off-white center. The 20-piece set provides service for four, consisting of 10-1/4-inch dinner plates, 8-inch salad plates, 8-1/4-inch rimmed soup bowls, 8-ounce cups, and 6-3/4-inch saucers. As with all Pfaltzgraff dishes, single replacement pieces are available for broken items. The stoneware is safe for use in the microwave, oven, freezer, and dishwasher. Product Description

Standing on the shore and looking out at the sea, you see bands of color as the ocean gets deeper and deeper. At first there is the soft green shade of shallow water that is warmed by the summer sun; then it progresses to a current of darker blue green, a bit colder and deeper; then at last, is the deep blue sea. This is the progression of color that makes up Ocean Breeze, a banded collection shown on a Contempo shape. Three plateaus, or ridges, are sculpted into the rim of the dinnerware, each holding a single shade, creating a dramatic evolution of color.

This simple yet presentable set have been used by my family for some time. The set doesn't crack even when I used it in the oven and does not stain easily, with its creamy color retained even after all those years of use in our kitchen. It is definitely a good buy.

I purchased 4 sets of 20-pieces and some other pieces and only received two broken pieces. The reviewer that received mostly broken pieces was simply unlucky.

The dishes are otherwise very durable and of good quality. The coloring is good.

The only unexpected thing I discovered is, with any of Pfaltzgraff's stonewear, the foot is not glazed and it will soak up water. Running these through the diswasher will create a darker ring around the foot even from the top, but it will go away as internal stone dries (takes a while). If you wash by hand and don't soak them then this won't be an issue.

Also because the foot is unglazed it will scratch the tops of other dishes when stacked and slid around. I bought some felt plate separators to prevent this (not needed for the cups). A little care is never a bad thing.

My sets arrived with numerous imperfections in the glazing. This is 99cent store sloppyness. I suspect that Pfaltzgraff has dumped low quality product on amazon and that earlier versions of these pieces may be better quality. One dinner plate actually has a knick in the the rim with glaze over it. I would never invest in anything by this company again. BUYER BEWARE.
