5.0 out of 5 stars Durable and Easy to Match
This simple yet presentable set have been used by my family for some time. The set doesn't crack even when I used it in the oven and does not stain easily, with its creamy color retained even after all those years of use in our kitchen. It is definitely a good buy.

My sets arrived with numerous imperfections in the glazing. This is 99cent store sloppyness. I suspect that Pfaltzgraff has dumped low quality product on amazon and that earlier versions of these pieces may be better quality. One dinner plate actually has a knick in the the rim with glaze over it. I would never invest in anything by this company again. BUYER BEWARE.

5.0 out of 5 stars Happy so far, September 11, 2004
This review is from: Pfaltzgraff Ocean Breeze 20-Piece Stoneware Dinnerware Set, Service for 4 (Kitchen)
I purchased 4 sets of 20-pieces and some other pieces and only received two broken pieces. The reviewer that received mostly broken pieces was simply unlucky.

The dishes are otherwise very durable and of good quality. The coloring is good.

The only unexpected thing I discovered is, with any of Pfaltzgraff's stonewear, the foot is not glazed and it will soak up water. Running these through the diswasher will create a darker ring around the foot even from the top, but it will go away as internal stone dries (takes a while). If you wash by hand and don't soak them then this won't be an issue.

Also because the foot is unglazed it will scratch the tops of other dishes when stacked and slid around. I bought some felt plate separators to prevent this (not needed for the cups). A little care is never a bad thing.

4.0 out of 5 stars pfaltzgraff dishes, December 13, 2002

We recieved the entire set for our wedding. We love how well it matches our kitchen. We find that they are very durable and with stand heat and scrathes well. The only down fall of these dishes is that the bottom ring on them is very rough and you have to be carefull not scratch your table or furniture. I highly recommend the use of placemats.I love the fact that it has so many accessory pieces we can add, and that we have the ability to replace single broken pieces at on of our local pfaltzgraff outlets.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful, Durable, Wonderful, May 10, 2004

We have almost every piece of this Pfaltzgraff Ocean Breeze set. They look great with any type of setting. They are also very durable and don't seem to scratch easily (although I haven't had them all that long.) I like that they have a perfect weight to them -- not featherweight, but not heavy enough so you can't carry a whole stack of them at once.

The additional pieces that comes in this set that I think is worth investing in are: the vegtable bowl, 13" serving platter, the sugar and creamer set are very attractive and well designed, the gravy boat is perfect, and the 2.5 quart serving bowl. The butter dish and the salt and pepper shaker are two items we also have that I don't love as much as the rest of the pieces. The butter dish is way too big for butter. It is round and the lid is quite tall, too big for butter in my opinion. Also, the S&P shaker are pretty small and I just don't care for the style of them.

What a great set! This set is something that goes well both formally or casually. It matches lots of different place settings. You will be more than pleased with this dinnerware set!!

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't buy these dishes!, August 31, 2010
This review is from: Pfaltzgraff Ocean Breeze 20-Piece Stoneware Dinnerware Set, Service for 4 (Kitchen)
I've had these dishes now for about 5 years and regret the day I purchased them. They have fine cracks throughout every piece and are unusable in the microwave because they get SO HOT you can't handle them. I will never buy Pfaltzgraff again.

3.0 out of 5 stars After two years glaze cracking..., January 17, 2010
This review is from: Pfaltzgraff Ocean Breeze 20-Piece Stoneware Dinnerware Set, Service for 4 (Kitchen)
We bought Pfaltzgraff Ocean Breeze to match our remodeled summerhome kitchen. We love the pieces, but after two years of only seasonal use, the glaze on the plates is cracking. Everything else looks great, so we will buy another brand of plates to match the set. We thought with Pfalzgraff's reputation these dishes would be more durable!

Pfaltzgraff should stand behind thier product and replace defective dishes...like in a recall...

I have had my set of Pfaltzgraff Ocean Breeze for approximately 10 years. We use them nearly every day, and we are not particularly gentle with them. One of the cereal bowls was chipped about 6 months ago. Everything else is still intact and beautiful.

It's not wedgewood, but is a quite sturdy everyday dinnerware set. 2 pieces came broken and within 2 days of calling Pfaltzgraff, they had sent another entire service for 4 since they didn't replace individual pieces. That's top notch customer service if you ask me.
