This five-piece place setting consists of a 10-1/4-inch dinner plate, an 8-inch salad plate, an 8-1/4-inch soup bowl, an 8-ounce cup, and a 6-3/4-inch saucer. Pfaltzgraff's Ocean Breeze pattern is designed to mimic the colors of the ocean: in shallow water you see a light green, followed by a darker bluish green as the depth increases, and finally, a deep blue in the farthest depths. Those three colors line the rim of each piece in the set, complementing an off-white center. As with all Pfaltzgraff dishes, single replacement pieces are available from the manufacturer if you ever break, say, just the cup. Product Description
Standing on the shore and looking out at the sea, you see bands of color as the ocean gets deeper and deeper. At first there is the soft green shade of shallow water that is warmed by the summer sun; then it progresses to a current of darker blue green, a bit colder and deeper; then at last, is the deep blue sea. This is the progression of color that makes up Ocean Breeze, a banded collection shown on a Contempo shape. Three plateaus, or ridges, are sculpted into the rim of the dinnerware, each holding a single shade, creating a dramatic evolution of color.

We've owned an 8-place setting Pfaltzgraff for 2 years, and just about every piece has chipped - not very encouraging.

I really like Pfaltzgraff dinnerware. It holds up very well and they have a 5 year guarantee. If your pattern gets retired, Pfaltzgraff will continue to make pieces for the retired pattern for a period of 5 years after the retirement date. No other company does that. Replacing discontinued/retired dinnerware gets expensive so this is a great feature of Pfaltzgraff's dinnerware.The company has also assured me that Ocean Breeze should be around for a long time as it is one of the more popular patterns. It is not trendy, but rather timeless and classic. It can blend in to any color kitchen/dining area. I own almost everything in this pattern line and I absolutely love using it. I use it for company as well as for my family on a daily basis.

About 5 years ago, my mother bought a couple of sets of these for herself and a set for my brother. Within the first year, both of them had problems with discolored cracks appearing. Long discolored brownish cracks. You couldn't feel them but they were clearly visible so we're not sure if the pieces are still safe to use. My brother ended up having to get new dishes after a few years. For some reason, my brothers cracked sooner and worse than my mom's set. Maybe it was from a different lot or maybe it's because he microwaves a lot more often with them. If you're looking for something to hold up for years, THIS IS NOT THE SET.
