We've owned an 8-place setting Pfaltzgraff for 2 years, and just about every piece has chipped - not very encouraging.

I really like Pfaltzgraff dinnerware. It holds up very well and they have a 5 year guarantee. If your pattern gets retired, Pfaltzgraff will continue to make pieces for the retired pattern for a period of 5 years after the retirement date. No other company does that. Replacing discontinued/retired dinnerware gets expensive so this is a great feature of Pfaltzgraff's dinnerware.

The company has also assured me that Ocean Breeze should be around for a long time as it is one of the more popular patterns. It is not trendy, but rather timeless and classic. It can blend in to any color kitchen/dining area.

I own almost everything in this pattern line and I absolutely love using it. I use it for company as well as for my family on a daily basis.

About 5 years ago, my mother bought a couple of sets of these for herself and a set for my brother. Within the first year, both of them had problems with discolored cracks appearing. Long discolored brownish cracks. You couldn't feel them but they were clearly visible so we're not sure if the pieces are still safe to use. My brother ended up having to get new dishes after a few years. For some reason, my brothers cracked sooner and worse than my mom's set. Maybe it was from a different lot or maybe it's because he microwaves a lot more often with them. If you're looking for something to hold up for years, THIS IS NOT THE SET.

I purchased this set of dishes when my old set had become chipped to the point of embarrassment, simply due to daily use, loading and unloading the dishwasher, stacking plates in the sink, etc. Our family is hard on dishes, and this set stands up very well to every day use. Very good for every day use. I would definitely recommend this product, especially for a family with children, when 'handling with care' is not always the practice.

My family, as well as friends, have purchased a total of 5 sets from Pfaltzgraff over the years. Each family was extremely disappointed with the cracking, chipping, and crazing of their set. None of these families were hard on the plates, etc. In fact, several were older with no children at home. It is very unfortunate because the patterns are fantastic. Consequently, all sets were first hand, not from discount store.

I got this gift for my friend's wedding. When I was checking it out in the store, I was impressed with how heavy it way. I also liked the price. Being a college student, money is a a little tight and this set fit into my budget. I also like the matching accessories, so you can draw the whole table together.

After years of having roommates and random mix and match dishes, I decided to get some decent dishes when I moved into my own place. I'm not talking fine china or anything, just solid everyday dishes.

This set is thick and sturdy. It holds up well in the oven. I don't have a microwave, so I can't say anything about that. The design is simple and could blend with many decors. I haven't run into any of the chipping that a few other reviews have mentioned. I do wish the bowls were a bit bigger. That's the only bad thing I can say.

I don't think there is a better set of dinnerware in this price range or even the next step up.

We received two four-person full place settings for our wedding five years ago, and they have lasted through this many years of poor handling, moving (without professional movers), dishwashings, oven-heating, microwaving, and refrigerating. I initially picked the pattern because my husband is one of those finicky types who doesn't like decorations beneath his food (is this a man thing?), and the colors match so easily with other kitchen decor.

I found the set durable, and when I noticed that finally, after all the banging, clanking, and rough-handling, a bowl's edge had chipped, I set off to get a new one. Amazon's price for one full set is less than the cost of two new bowls directly from Pfaltzgraff, so I decided for the full setting instead of ordering piecemeal. I also bought the matching salt and pepper shakers, which are very handy.

Everything arrived in top shape and I now have enough dishes to feed a healthy-sized get-together. Since Pfaltzgraff doesn't retire their patterns very often, I look forward to using this set and buying more additional items in the future. Unlike others who have had poor experiences, I highly recommend this stoneware to any young adults or couples who plan on everyday use and enjoyment. My sets arrived with numerous imperfections in the glazing. This is 99cent store sloppyness. I suspect that Pfaltzgraff has dumped low quality product on amazon and that earlier versions of these pieces may be better quality. One dinner plate actually has a knick in the the rim with glaze over it. I would never invest in anything by this company again. BUYER BEWARE.
