Pfaltzgraff's Ocean Breeze pattern is designed to mimic the colors of the ocean: in shallow water you see a light green, followed by a darker bluish green as the depth increases, and finally, a deep blue in the deepest depths. Those three colors, in that order, are what you'll see on this stoneware butter dish's base and lid, complementing the main off-white color. This extra-large round butter dish easily holds two full sticks of butter with room to spare (it's more than 7 inches across). Go ahead and throw some sprigs of herbs around the butter for a cool look--there's plenty of room. And if you break, say, just the lid, Pfaltzgraff offers single replacement pieces for all its kitchenware items. The stoneware is safe for use in the microwave, oven, freezer, and dishwasher. Product Description

Standing on the shore and looking out at the sea, you see bands of color as the ocean gets deeper and deeper. At first there is the soft green shade of shallow water that is warmed by the summer sun; then it progresses to a current of darker blue green, a bit colder and deeper; then at last, is the deep blue sea. This is the progression of color that makes up Ocean Breeze, a banded collection shown on a Contempo shape. Three plateaus, or ridges, are sculpted into the rim of the dinnerware, each holding a single shade, creating a dramatic evolution of color.

not your old fashined thin version. looks great on the table and hold everything, can even be heated up.

large enough, perfect for chilling & softening butter, also mixing other flavors with butter. also great for cream cheese, soft cheeses and thick relishes.I LOVE IT!
