2.0 out of 5 stars Not what I expect from Pfaltzgraff
We have had Pfaltzgraff dishes for *years* and went to these because we wanted a change in dishes. We have had them for 2 years and they have faded, chipped very easily and the pattern is faded. They are absolutely covered with marks from the flatware. - Ours are the made in China variety if that is a factor in their quality.

We have not ever had this kind...

Upon first seeing these dishes, I immediately liked them! While they didn't fit into my kitchen decor, they would set beautifully in my mothers kitchen and so, I purchased this set for her. Here, I too would be able to enjoy them from time-to-time. :-D

For those who have a difficult time visualizing the size of these bowls & cups in ounces, I will give you the approximate measurements:

Bowl: just over 5 1/2 inches wide x 2 1/8 inches deep.
Cup: 3 3/8 inches wide x 2 1/4 deep.

They have a nice, even glaze and pattern, as well as a nice "shine" to them.
I consider these to be of good quality, durably made dishes that are suitable to use as every day dishes.
They should provide you with years of functional use as well as lend beautiful, visual aesthetic value to your decorum should these colors suit the environment of your kitchen.

The only drawback to this set, in my opinion, is the size of the cups. If you drink multiple cups of coffee or tea like my family and I...you will find that these cups don't hold much and therefore, won't be apt to use them for these purposes. Aside from this, it is a wonderful set to own.

~good luck & enjoy!

5.0 out of 5 stars unfair promotion procedure, December 15, 2002

I have been very pleased with Amazon over the last few months, however, the promotion with the 5 piece set of Pfaltzgaff 20 piece dinner set ( a free 5 piece set of the same set) was too unclear. We ordered two sets of the two dinnerware sets and should have received two free 5-piece sets. We did not becasue we could not decide how to do so and assmumed that the free sets would be sent automatically. They were not and I can find no way to contact Amazon.com to correct this problem. Be sure to look for any promotional requirements before you order.

We have not ever had this kind of problem with the previous Pfaltzgraff sets we have owned. I would not buy again, in fact we are planning to take the remaining good pieces and give them to Goodwill and start over, probably with a set made by someone else. My mother-in-law has has had her set of Pfaltzgraff for something like 15 years and it looks better than ours... From Pfaltzgraff I exepected higher quality.

5.0 out of 5 stars French Quarter by Pfaltzgraff is so WELCOME in my home!, April 5, 2002

What a lovely set of dinnerware I have purchased - The colors are exactly what I was looking for, to match my new kitchen. The quality of the dishes is exceptional - - the design is super, too. Not only do the cups fit the rim of the saucer, but, the deep bowls fit exactly into the saucer "rim", making it so practical! Our family truly loves these new dishes. I'm sure you will, too.

I bought these dishes (a 12 place setting with all the accessories except the cutlery). I love it. It loooks very nice in my china hutch. Yes on the first time I used these dishes I did notice marks from the knives my family used. I called pfaltzgraff since my dishes have a 5 year warranty and they sent my a bottle of cleaner to try for free. It removed all the marks on the dishes and I am still pleased with the product. So far so happy

I cannot begin to say how lovely these dishes are. Since using them, I have had nothing but compliments. Of course, the best is when one's husband tells you that you should have bought more- along with the matching cutlery. Well, this is just what I plan to do. The colors are soft, the size more than adequate, the patina perfect- you can't go wrong with these dishes. I plan to build my set to service for 12 very soon.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pflatzgraff French Quarter 20-Piece Dinnerware Set, January 20, 2003

I had my eyes on these dishes at the department stores and was waiting for the right price. . . I found that price on Amazon.com, along with free shipping and no sales tax. These dishes are simply beautiful and functional. I love the size of the bowls. I've since ordered glasses to match my set.

I read one review that someone was not happy with the size of the cups. I found mugs in this pattern on the Pfaltzgraff website and ordered them to match my set.

1.0 out of 5 stars Silverware marks!, May 31, 2006

I love the pattern on these dishes but after having them for a couple of years, I'm ready to ditch them because of the flatware marks. If you don't get them off, the plates look gross and believe me, it's a chore to get the marks off, only to have them come back after the next meal. I've found that a can of Zud and a load of elbow grease will eventually get the marks off but it's just not worth the effort anymore. I can't recommend this set unless Pfaltzgraff stops ignoring the problem and deals with it.

1.0 out of 5 stars These dishes make me sad..., February 20, 2006
This review is from: Pfaltzgraff French Quarter 20-Piece Dinnerware Set, Service for 4 (Kitchen)
I searched and searched for new everyday dishes and looked at french quarter a long time before I decided to purchase. I LOVE the design. As soon as I used them, I started getting the silverware markings. I tried the pfaltzgraff recommended cleaner but it doesn't work well enough to remove the marks, only lighten them a little. The cereal bowls, dinner plates and serving bowl and platter are all marked. Now the platter is cracked and broken, and it was NEVER dropped or banged. Every time I look at these dishes it makes me sad. I loved the pattern so but they look just awful. I am tired of making apologies to my guests. Pfaltzgraff says that the marking is NOT a defect. WHAT? Everytime I use them I have to apply a special acidic cleaner and let them sit in a vain attempt to remove marks? Sorry pfaltzgraff, you blew it and won't admit it. We have decided to ditch these and get new ones. NOT PFALTZGRAFF.

This review is from: Pfaltzgraff French Quarter 20-Piece Dinnerware Set, Service for 4 (Kitchen)
Ok I have owned these dishes for 3 years they hold up well don't break in the oven and haven't faded on me yet the only advice i give to you is don't by the matching flatware it fades horribly and for those of you complaining about the tea cups they sell coffee mugs and HUGE mugs called cafe mugs and glass cups in all sizes oh and when you get replacement pieces always go to the factory and look them over good cause i have gotten defective ones before hope this helps
