It's a shame that this beautiful and unique set does not hold up. The center of dinner plate and dessert plate mark up quite easily with knife and fork. I have used the cleaner Pfaltzgraff provides; it removes the markings only temporarily. I actually cleaned the set on a Thursday--(a time consuming procedure)--and by the the weekend the plates were marked again! A real disappointment!!

I just received my shipment of the Sphere collection and I am very impressed. They have the standard heavy Pfaltzgraff pottery feel and the colors are lovely. I was surprised to see just how large the bowls and mugs are as well. The side dishes with the green accent are a bit bowlish...in other words, they are not totally flat. Other than that surprise, I'm very happy with this pattern. Also, the grey border has an almost unfinished feel which gives a nice balance to the smooth white surfaces. These dishes rival the more expensive pottery dishes one may see at high-end home stores...for a very good price!

As for $$, definately purchase from amazon.com. They have the best base price and with the super-saver shipping, you're getting quite a deal.

I bought these a couple of months ago and they sure look great. the free coolers were an added bonus and they complement this set well.
however, the quality of these pieces leaves a lot to be desired. After the very first dishwash, one of the plates lost some paint right in the middle. As another reviewer pointed out, it marks easily with knife and fork. I still like them a lot but I do regret having paid eighty bucks for them.

When we first got this set, we were both very pleased with the unusual and striking design. We thought we would continue to be pleased for quite some time. However, after minimal use, we discovered that the finish just didn't seem to hold up to everyday use. The finish is so marred now, especially with the dinner and salad plates, that we would be too embarassed to use these dishes for company. Our previous older dishes now look much better than this set. However, we could recommend the coffee mugs as a separate purchase.

I love these dishes!! We've spent the past 10 year using Corelleware and I wanted something 'grownup' I looked for over a year to find something I liked and was not too expensive. These are it!
The cups are nice and big and the dishes are wonderful. I can't be more happy with this set!

I just received my first set of dishes yesterday and I absolutely love them! I'd read another review where it was mentioned the cups were very large, but I was still surprised at how large they are. They are the perfect hot cocoa mugs! I love how the different pieces compliment each other, but are different-it's not as boring to look at a full place setting. I can't wait to get my next set.

These dishes were everything I had hoped for and more! The colors are terrific, and the quality is amazing. The mugs are huge, and keep beverages hot for quite a while. The plates are heavy and very good quality. Everyone who comes over comments on how beautiful these are. I would recommend this to anyone! Absolutely fantastic!

I ordered this set in the gray with green trim. My kitchen counters are a camoflage granite and the wallpaper white with green safari theme. I knew finding matching dinnerware was
going to be a real challange! But when I saw the Pfaltzgraff I
felt it would be perfect. When we finally recieved it,it looked custom-made for my unusual kitchen theme. The dishes are beautifully smooth and a good weight. The mugs are great-a 2 cup size, and the salad dishes more like a small dinner plate. Thank you so much! We will be adding to our settings. Wish you had more accessories. ... Wendy Hobaugh

We have been using this set every day for 3-4 years now and still love it. We have 12 settings, and so far nothing has broken. I'm not sure why some reviewers have said the quality is poor--I think these dishes are well made and durable. We haven't had any issues with paint coming off. As for the cutlery markings, perhaps it's true that they scratch a little, but it's hardly noticeable and doesn't bother me. Truth is, I don't think I know any light-colored dishes that won't get slight cutlery marks over time.
Many of our friends have complimented us on this set. We also have the salt/pepper shaker set and creamer/sugar bowl, which, like the mugs, are really cool in their design. This set has personality, and depending on the set-up, it can look casual OR elegant on the table.
I'm only sorry it has been discontinued, because it will be more difficult to find replacement pieces.

I have had these dishes for about five years now. Not one has broke, and I am not easy on them. Very durable. The only comment I have is to get them quick because they are retired. I just checked the Pfalzgraff website and you can get a 16-piece set for about $30.00!
