10oz Pfaltzgraff Winterberry Covered Mug with Tea Diffuser - Made in China,

Pretty 10 oz ceramic mug with cover and diffuser made in China. The little leaf that goes on the tea diffuser is not painted as nicely as the mug and cover, and has white paint spatters on the edges. The cover fits nicely on the mug, and doesn't drip while you are waiting for your tea to steep. The handle is a little awkward to get my small hand around, a more open handle design would probably be a big improvement. If you have larger hands, I would avoid this style. Not the best covered mug around, but useful.

My mother bought this mug for me for Christmas because I am a huge tea drinker. It is a gorgeous mug; mine is very well painted with no obvious blemishes. The cover works well -- I have a tendency to forget that I have made tea, and with the cover on the tea keeps warm for a few hours more than usual. The mug has sustained relatively few chips, mostly on the bottom, despite frequent use and my own clumsiness.
Unfortunately, I was lifting the mug with its cover from a high ledge, and the cover went flying off the mug and broke into four pieces. However, I think this is mostly my fault for keeping the mug and lid so high up, since the lid is not a tight fit. Thus I would recommend that you not store the mug with the cover in place. The tea diffuser worked okay the first few tries, though it stained pretty quickly. It also does not close as tightly as I would like, and thus tea leaves sometimes escape into the tea. Furthermore, the tiny piece of metal that forms the hinge somehow got deformed, and one half of the diffuser kept getting loose. I was able to put it together the first few times, but the hinge fell off altogether during transport, and now the diffuser is useless. Thus, I wish that the diffuser had been better designed. Overall I would say that the mug and cover are well-made, if fragile, but the tea diffuser could be better designed. All the same, I ordered a second one to replace the broken cover and tea diffuser, as it is one of my favourite mugs. UPDATE: Upon receiving my Amazon.com mug, it looks like the tea diffuser has been given a finer mesh and closes more tightly than the one I received as a gift. I will keep my rating as is, but this looks like a hopeful improvement. Thank you for reading and happy shopping.

I purchased two of the Pfaltzgraff Winterberry Covered Mug with Tea Diffuser, unfortunately on the first day of receiving the items the diffuser pin broke and the bottom rim of the mug chipped. So, I would not consider these items to be durable, but still a nice item to have for rare occasional use.
