This set is very beautiful and at the same time you don't have to worry about breaking it easily - it's not the fine china, which makes it a very good every day set, not only during the holidays but also during all winter season.

It has arrived in a perfect condition without damage, it's been packed in a few boxes, peanuts, ect, very protective package!!!

I am a very sufisfied customer! Hope set will hold up in a frequent use!


P.S. Previous reviews about black marks on the plates are true, using plates for over 4 month now and starting to see it. Does't come off in the dishwasher, I guess I will have to buy a cleaner now... but the set is still very beautiful!

Pfaltzgraff quality is poor now that the product is made in China. I own a set of Grapevine dishes made in USA and I purchased a set of Winterberry dishes for my mother made in USA prior to 2005 (when they sold the company). Last year I purchased a set of Winterberry for myself but returned them because the glaze was uneven, the colors were not the same and they could not compare to my Mom's set. I will never buy another Pfaltzgraff product.

Although my order was packed extremely well, several pieces were damaged and one cup was broken into multiple pieces. Using Amazon's online return feature, I printed a label and requested a replacement. The replacement was in good shape. The really awesome thing is that we received the original and the replacement in less time than we expected to receive the original shipment! Now that's some good customer service.

I did end up calling after receiving the replacement because I didn't realize when I printed the return label that I needed 2 of them (the order for the 32-piece set came in two separate boxes) and I was afraid that going through the return process again would cause the system to send me another set that I would then have to send back.

My wife is very happy, we cannot wait until Christmas to use these plates. They will look awesome on the table or on display. The first order delivered in record time but one plate was broken in two. Amazon sent replacement in 2 days. Very helpful and understanding. This order was extremely nice, the quality was great, the price is unbelievable, and to be honest Amazon's customer service was so off the scale my wife and I are still in disbelief, we are waiting to wake up.

I purchased an 8 piece setting of the Winterberry dinnerware set. This is not fine china, this is quality stoneware that looks elegant due to the delicate decor. Every piece purchased was on sale making it easier to buy extra pieces. All pieces came intact and without flaws. I also purchased the gravy pitcher, platter, veggie bowl, dip set, cheese plate and slicer, salt and pepper shakers, hand painted goblets, a hand painted hurricane lamp. All of this was for a dear friend who has recently found out that cancer has returned. Married two years, and with little time or money for such luxuries, this purchase is a symbol that she will be here next year to celebrate the holiday season. She loves to set her table but this year could only afford the dollar store version of plates. I would not give her anything less than a quality set of dishes, and these met that requirement. I digress from the review, but I wanted to share the motive behind this and to ask those who read this to say a prayer for my friend. She is a loving, giving person who has the most beautiful smile you have ever seen. Thank you for reading this.

My wife and I ordered this on Dec 21 and did not expect to receive it until between January 2nd and 9th. We selected the free super saver shipping and saved $29.18. It shipped on the December 22nd arrived on the 26th. Could not beleive how fast it arrived. We entertained with this beautiful set on New Years day. We also ordered 12 extra plates, salt and pepper shakers, sugar and creamer set. This all arrived in 3 boxes in perfect condition. Amazon also had a special going that applied an addtional $25.00 off for this order. I could not get this deal directly from Pfaltzgraff's website. We received many compliments. I have been an Amazon customer since 1999 and have never been dissapointed.

I have had this pattern for several years. Like many others, noticed the grey marks when my hubby and I started using this set during the winter months, rather than just occasionally at Christmas. Let me be clear when I say marks. Not just isolated grey marks, but it looks like a little kid has scribbled all over the plate with a pencil after about 2-4 months of use.

I am told that the marks are caused by the flatware hitting the glaze and the metal rubbing off onto the plates. To get the set white again, I have to spend hours with Bar Keepers friend and a magic eraser scrubbing down the plates and bowls. Because of the shape of the mugs, I cannot get enough elbow grease to clean the marks left by spoons in the bottom of the mugs. Not fun, and a chore I dread.

Does anyone have a simpler way to clean these marks off? Anyone have any flatware that does not leave marks? We have a set of 18/8 flatware that leaves AWFUL marks on these (the flatware does not mar my other dishes--mikasa italian country side and lennox china). I'd buy a separate set of flatware to use with these to avoid having to clean if anyone has a set you could recommend.

I would strongly suggest ordering the largest set at the lower price.
I purchased this service for 8, and received it with broken pieces. Thus, I ordered another service for 8 (costing me more) and received it with broken pieces as well. Plus, the plates and dessert plates in the two orders were of a slightly different depth. Amazon did not pack well, did not label the shipping packages as "Fragile", and UPS guy "dropped" both deliveries on doorstep. I finally was able to match up for a complete service for 8, with spares for future replacements. I will say however, "Amazon is great at discounting the price you paid in restitution for broken pieces."

I bought the winterberry dishes and I would NOT suggest anyone buy them. They are turning black in the dishwasher. I might have to just throw them away.

I purchased a place setting for eight at Christmas for my wife. After using them a few times we noticed marks on the dishes where we had cut food. Now they are a mess with all the marks on them. Our last set of dishes we didn't have that problem and we haven't changed any of our
utensls eather.
Other then that the dishes are fine. We just don't like the marks.
