I have used both Martin and Pflueger reels. For the money the Pflueger is a better product. You can spend as much as you want for fly rods or reels; however, for a beginner or even for an old timer like me, this reel is the real deal ;)

I have not used this item yet, but am replacing one I had years ago. I expect the same fine usage from this reel as my old one. I can, however, rate the supplier as excellent to superb. The package came in only two or three days, and was exactly as advertised. I would and will buy again from this supplier.

When I went looking for the "old-fashioned" automatic reel, I found this great Pflueger, which is exactly what I wanted! Back in the 1950's, all fly reels were "automatic" - thereby allowing a fly fisherman to handle a lot of line in his hands without cranking a spool. Recent "advancements" have gone to crank reels, which forces you to use one hand on the rod and the other hand on the reel...leaving no hands free for line-handling.

Great product-Great price-Been wasting my money on those junky Martin's at Wal Mart for years.

my husband really likes the reel. This is the first time that he has done any fly fishing, but he finds this reel to his liking. He would recommend this reel.

I had been looking for one of these for 15 years. Found it here at amazon and it is mine! They want 200 bucks plus for a self wind reel, this one is auto-wind. I would tell people to buy this item but I need to buy a couple more, and dont want the supply to run out!

I opened the box pulled back the lever and the lever screw fell out. It was stripped out from the factory.
