I bought this combo for panfish but the rod is too soft which makes casting light baits difficult. It's a sensitive rod and nice quality but just too soft. The reel is awesome! I switched it over to a 6ft. rod and use it for small topwater baits and plastics. It's lightweight, comfortable, and onen of my favorite rod & reel setups. I have caught a few 2-3lb bass so far on it and missed a 5lb bass because of hookset. So far, the reel is holding up nicely and I take it with me every trip. This one doesn't get left behind for any reason.

If you want a good panfish combo, be aware that the rod is really soft (like a wet noodle) and you might want a 5ft or 6ft light action rod. It can cast a mile with a 6ft rod.

I've been using this rod and reel for a few months and I am very pleased with it. The rod is very flexible, but I have not found that to be a problem. It's all very light and compact but high quality parts and construction. It has caught the same fish that a rod and reel twice as big and twice as expensive have caught. The one worry I had was that it would not be strong enough for a decent sized bass, but it proved itself with some nice sized bass, as well as a monster catfish.

I snapped the rod the 4th time I went trout fishing. This thing is like casting a straw, the reel is cheap and doesn't have unlimited anti reverse. Bought an Ugly stick and a Pflueger president micro, you should too.
