If you are looking for an entry level reel look no further. With this package you get the reel, backing, fly line, leader, and two starter flies. It doesn't have a ton of bells and whistles but fly fishing is most reliant on the pole and the line. I found the action to be smooth and the reel felt like it was light and very durable.

This reel is certainly worth the money. I purchased the purist to complete a short small creek rod I had. It was around the same price as the medalist, but it weighs less. It's simple, but that's what I wanted. I already have a pflueger trion that has all the fancy bits, but the purist catches fish just the same. The drag is non-adjustable, but its at a good tension and easy to switch for either hand. You don't really need adjustable drag so much with fly fishing anyway. It's frame is solid. Comes with an ok 6wt. line, and some cheap flies. The line I replaced with my favorite, and saved the line that came with it for back up. Truth be known, you don't need a hundred plus dollar reel to fly fish. All you need is an easy and simple reel like this. Save some cash for good line and more flies.

For $29.99 this is a good entry level Fly Reel to start a great way to fish. After 30 years of Fly Fishing its hard to impress me with any low priced Fly product but this suprised me. I bought this for my grandson and was really suprised at the quality of this Reel. Take out of the box and ready to use. Comes with everything you need, Fly line Backing, Fly line and leader plus two Nymph flys all in one package. You cant go wrong with this set-up if your a beginner or a novice. A good EXTRA RIG to have for those who like to fish with a friend who does not own a Fly Rig. BRAVO... A+

I bought this to use on on my spare rod. It is a fair reel that costs very little...exactly what I wanted.
Originally the reel was broken (the handle had snapped off in shipping), but, as usual, Amazon replaced it for me immediately. The replacement reel seemed to have better line on it...this was a surprise that it would not be exactly like the first one, but it worked to my advantage.
The reel is a bit noisy and the drag is either on or off-no adjusting. But for the price it works just fine and it included line!

This Reel is perfect for trout fishing in small to medium size streams. already comes spooled with line and backing which saves you some more money. for the price this reel is good for any fly fisherman. it holds up well against dropping it in the creek and on rocks, it is definately worth the money.
