I purchased the one piece 7' Combo, I added 12LB Test to it. I have to say this combo is AWESOME! I own a 6' 6" Shakespeare Pro-Am combo that I've had for 23 years. The first time I used the Pflueger, it was like going from an old beat up (but dependable) jalopy, to a Ferrari! It works as beautiful as it looks. With a gear ratio of 5.2:1, just makes this reel so smooth and A LOT faster than I expected. I mainly purchased this combo for lure fishing off a pier, but I can easily see that this one could become my primary combo. Plueger is a GREAT company that's been around since 1881! Not too many companies can say that, and being around that long, THEY KNOW HOW TO CREATE A GREAT PRODUCT! Can't wait to go fishing again!

I have been fishing for many years and this rod is now my favourite , I use it for softbait fishing and catch kahwai , king fish and snapper

I got this rod and reel to fish for trout and atlantic salmon up in the highlands of Tasmania, Australia. It is balanced really well and casts a tassie devil lure a hell of a long way. I caught some nice brown and rainbow trout with ease. This is by far the best light spinning combo I've had.

A light set up, rod is sturdy and the reel is very smooth. Easy to cast. An excellent combo and probably my favorite...will buy this in other sizes in the future. Got the 5'6" light action. Reel holds 4-8 lb test.

I bought the light action. It's really sensitive to light bites, but strong enough for the heavy hits.
The reel is a good quality, smooth action, antireverse clutch works well.

I was looking for a combo and found this one with a lot of others too. I didn't know which one to buy and decided to take some of other combo out of the list. Then this combo came out to be the winner in the list because i read all the comment and a lot of people gave this combo a five star. So i decided to buy this one to have it a try for my walleyes fishing with my grandpa. The combo got here with great condition, looking good and lighter than my other fishing combo. The reel is smooth and the rod is nice as well. Going to try it out in couple weeks with my grandpa and well see how it is go. So far, it look great and smooth. It very worth the money.

After using this combo 3 times the anti-reverse broke and one of the guides on the rod split in half ! Threw the whole thing in the dumpster. Serves me right for buying cheap junk !

Pflueger Trion GX 7 Spinning Combo. The 4'-8" I purchsed is not a GX-7 with IM-8 graphite. The combo is a GX only with IM-6 graphite. No where on the rod or reel is says it's a GX 7. I cant speak for the other lengths. I also found it 10$ cheaper at Sport Chalet $39.95. I gave it only one star as the description is wrong for this 4'-8" set up. Nice and balanced combo and does a great job as it should anyway.

After using my Pflueger President XT for months in saltwater, I purchased my 5 year old this rod/reel for his birthday present- he LOVED it, and it's built tough enough to handle his abuse- I threw it half the day out and felt it was just as good and lighter than by bigger reel, perfect for inshore trout and smaller redfish. He had no trouble learning the spinning reel, I'd say it's a good backup rod and I may even use it for slashbaits/twitchbaits because it's much lighter and takes less effort than my heavier gear. Quite a value, but I was lucky it arrived in one piece, the packaging was horrifying - but amazon has a return policy, if you can manage to ship it back and replace it, if for some reason it doesn't make the trip--- The packaging is the only reason I'm not ordering another one for my daughter.
