3.0 out of 5 stars PgMP Test prep material
By word of mouth I bought the The PgMP(sm) Exam Review: Boot camp Manual while looking for additional study materials for my PgMP test preparation. The book gives you additional explanation to input and outputs used in Program Management Processes Groups and Knowledge Areas not included in the PMI standard.

Perhaps the book is an adaptation of PMP prep...

4.0 out of 5 stars Ok Material, February 3, 2009

I took and Passed the PgMP using this book, the Program Management Standard, Paul Sanghera's book and the Aileen Ellis online questions. I covered the Program Management Standard, then studied Paul Sanghera's book and finally read through this one. I suggest that all the above materials helped in my prepping, complementing each other. They however only help you to master the theory - nothing can really prepare you for this exam! I doubted some of the other comments like 'When it comes to the exam, you're on your own', but I must concede they were right. This exam cannot be taken lightly.Your experience and the ability to work through the vague language will be of insurmountable value to pass this exam. It is exponentially tougher than the PMP exam! The questions on the exam are way tougher than any contained in the above-mentioned materials.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best PgMP Exam Study Kit, August 24, 2008
This review is from: PgMP Exam Review: Boot camp Manual (with Exam Simulation CD-ROM) (Perfect Paperback)
PgMP Exam Review: Boot camp Manual (with Exam Simulation CD-ROM)
This is the by far best PgMP exam study / preparation product on the market. I wrote my exam a few days ago and pass. This product truly prepared me well for the exam.

There are many other PgMP exam prep books / products on the market, but none of them are as detailed orientated as this product. I believe this exam kit provides you with a solid foundation and have many great test example questions, which is a good representation of the exam - this is key in passing the PgMP since the majority of the questions are long scenario questions.

One of the biggest problems I found with the other PgMP exam products on the market, and the 4 other exam study books I bought is: firstly, the Authors were not PgMP's when the materials were produced and secondly the exam sample questions were not a true representation of what to expect in the exam.

This product is worth every penny... good luck with the exams

3.0 out of 5 stars PgMP Test prep material, January 24, 2009
This review is from: PgMP Exam Review: Boot camp Manual (with Exam Simulation CD-ROM) (Perfect Paperback)

Perhaps the book is an adaptation of PMP prep materials available from Crosswind since includes many topics and "Crosswind Must Knows" required to pass the PMP test and not necessarily true to pass PgMP test.

The PgMP(sm) Exam Review: Boot camp Manual Version 8.0 requires additional proofreading since it has many typos in the material. While studding poor proofreading may not be a big issue but errors in the selection of the correct answer in the printed material and simulation software impact student's study time.

The simulation software was good to set the student in atmosphere similar to the real environment. The simulation software requires a larger inventory of questions after several times of partial or total simulation the questions start to repeat even in the same session.

2.0 out of 5 stars This version is confusing with Project terms & concepts sprinkled throughout, August 7, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: PgMP Exam Review: Boot camp Manual (with Exam Simulation CD-ROM) (Perfect Paperback)
I purchased this book a while ago based on the recommendation on Amazon. Now I am finally studying this, I found the book to be highly confusing. I am only up to Chapter 7, but it sometimes creates more confusion than clarity because "project" management are sometimes mingled with "program management". Furthermore, it spent considerable amount of pages on Portfolio Management and Project Management, which is off topic. (Here, I have to disclaim that I have not taken the exam yet, so maybe the test does cover Portfolio Management and Project Management extensively. But that appears to be illogical.)

I purchased this book to help with the essential of program management - so I can pass the PgMP test, not to learn the world of portfolio, program, and project management. I suspect other readers are in similar situation. My suggestion is to use a modified Pareto Rule - 90/10. By being too comprehensive and attempts to cover 100% of the disciplines, the book is at the risk of overload and worse - confusing.

The good news is that there is a more recent version of the book. Not sure if it's better as there is no review yet.

I bought this book exactly one week before my exam, and found it an excellent tool for preparation. I passed the exam in my first attempt, and this book went a long way in helping make that happen.

5.0 out of 5 stars PgMP exam., October 7, 2008
This review is from: PgMP Exam Review: Boot camp Manual (with Exam Simulation CD-ROM) (Perfect Paperback)
I really appreciated a lot the content and the Exam Simulation questions presented in this product, which I found similar in nature to the ones in the real exam.
I do recommend this product to any person applying for the PgMP.
By te way, I passed the exam the same day I received the book which was out of stock at the time of order.
Good luck...
