4.0 out of 5 stars Does the trick, March 30, 2009
This review is from: PgMP Program Management Professional All-in-One Exam Guide (Hardcover)
The book is a great reference and preparation for the PgMP. The test questions were not anything like the actual test, but it still prepared me sufficiently to pass. Worth the price, but you have to take the exam before June 30th, 2009 because the test is changing.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Program Management Reference, December 27, 2009

This review is from: PgMP Program Management Professional All-in-One Exam Guide (Hardcover)
I have found this book to be a solid reference for the Program Management basics. I haven't taken the exam yet but as an active Program Manager this book has been very useful. For organizations or professionals that are just starting in Program Management it gives solid information on the program life cycle and key high-level steps involved in the phases etc. The other thing that is good about this book is the author's writing style which is focused on informing the reader both on the industry practice, but also on the key items on the PgMp exam. I think the writers style makes the information a bit easier to absorb. The "Note" highlights in this book are also very useful for understanding the practical reality of how various features and/or steps in Program Management happens in organizations.

1.0 out of 5 stars Out of Date, April 13, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: PgMP Program Management Professional All-in-One Exam Guide (Hardcover)
This book is out of date. PMI has issued a second edition to the PgMP standard. This book refers to the first edition, and to the PMBOK 3rd edition.

Phillips needs to hire a proof reader. Expect to find about one typo per page. Does not change the content, but leads you to believe this was a rush job, to get it into print.

I really like Phillip's advice regarding developing the discipline to study and to pass the PgMP test.

If you want this book, look for one used, and don't pay more than $10.00
