1.0 out of 5 stars Fails to save on PS3
I was a big fan of Phantasy Star Universe on the Xbox 360, but this title isn't available as physical media on that machine, it's a download only and to top it off there is no offline content on the 360. So that's why I went with the PS2 version thinking I could play it on my PS3...

Wrong... wrong... wrong...

Phantasy Star Universe had a few flaring flaws in the original title: a lackluster storyline, heavy loss-rates for items and repetitive hack-and-slash gameplay. But they made up for it.

PSU AoI introduces several new features, mainly nostalgia relating back to Phantasy Star Online. The addition of PSO based clothing, areas, and timed-hits bring back what made PSO fun, and expands on it. Unfortunately, they did not fix the ratty ally AI, nor did they make it any less cheap with traps or enemies that seem just a tad faster. But the game is still fun, and the flexibility in weapons, clothing and hairstyles they have added make your Guardian completely customizable. I recommend only buying this if you play online, since that is part of the charm of the series.

Offline play does have its merits, even though the story is a carbon copy of Online's Episode 2. Also, it would've been more fun to be able to remodel your room and add more objects like in online play, but it is still solid.

Overall, I enjoyed it, and it is worth checking out, especially online.

I originally started playing PSO with my brother on Nintendo Gamecube and I'm amazed at the similarities. I have heard that in PSU the user was unable to modify their character for story mode, which I've always really enjoyed, and I'm glad to this game does. In addition, the game is great and addicting :O) I'm glad I purchased this from Amazon and I couldn't ask for a better result at a great price!

Thanks!!

I am a long time Gamer I guess you could say at 56 I have been playing since Atari first came out. I play Phantasy Star Universe with my son step son and a multitude of friends..just as I have played Final Fantasy Eleven Online for years...It's great interaction, entertainment and an interesting way to meet people from all walks of life from all over the world. I have watched my son play this game for some time now and have enjoyed the 'format/layout and programming'..they finally convinced me to join...I'm glad I did. Purchasing from Amazon was done in a professional and timely manner and I appreciate the process.

exceptional game play that continues from original title by sega.story mode is a bit long with the story boards, however;online action is where it's at!you're central character, meet & play people from all platforms the game is made for.example:ps2 players can play w/pc,x-box,wii,dreamcast,etc.minor restriction apply to those using older version.over all a good investment in gaming.

Nice game. Great game. I buy the game for the KID...the KID grabs the game & disappears.
Nothing more said. Someday, I going to break into the KID's Fortress & seize all possession of games
to get back some of that crazed spending from soon to be Seller on Amazon.com :)

Wrong... wrong... wrong...

You can play the game on your PS3, but if you have the 80 GB version you will not be able to save your game. It returns an error every time.

"Game Data, Extra mode character and Sega ID login on the memory card (8MB)(for Playstation2) in MEMORY CARD slot 1 may be damaged. Do you want to delete the damaged Game Data?"

I would have been better off just downloading the Xbox 360 version and paying the $10 a month to play it online even though it's not massively multiplayer and there isn't a persistent online world.
