This review is from: Phantom of the Music Hall (Paperback)
The story is good, but those who like to keep strictly to Leroux's story may not care for this rendition of the story. The Phantom is not a disfigured genius, but the ghost of an actor, who, like the Canterville ghost, is doomed to haunt the theatre until a lady comes along who is willing to fulfull the conditions of his release. Until that time, the Phantom is forced to stay in the theatre, and wear a mask for some unspecified reason. Do not get me wrong, however: the play is an excellent one, especially for someone looking for a good winter play for their high school. The jokes are witty, and often deal with feminism (i.e., slamming men). I recommend this play more for it's humour than it's storyline to non-Phantom Phreaks, and Phreaks alike.
