4.0 out of 5 stars Go ahead and buy it (if you only want songs from "Phantom")
By all means, buy this book if these are the songs you want.

However, there is an alternative sheet music collection you should consider if you would like to have songs from some of his other shows. That book is called THE ESSENTIAL ANDREW LLOYD WEBBER COLLECTION (ISBN 0634001604). You can check it out right here at Amazon.com.

That book is a little more expensive but...

1.0 out of 5 stars Easy piano book, not vocal seletions
The way this product is advertised in the description is a bit misleading. I was expecting the vocal selections and not an easy piano book.

Though this book might be great for a beginner, it is definitely not what I was expecting. Amazon might want to consider making this description and title a bit clearer to avoid future confusion.

4.0 out of 5 stars Go ahead and buy it (if you only want songs from "Phantom"), January 7, 2004
This review is from: Phantom of the Opera - Andrew Lloyd Webber: Vocal Selections - Souvenir Edition (Paperback)

That book is a little more expensive but it contains MOST of these "Phantom" songs (except "Masquerade," "Angel of Music" and "Prima Donna") in addition to the key selections from:

"Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat"
"Jesus Christ Superstar"
"Evita"
"Starlight Express"
"Cats"
"Aspects of Love"
"Sunset Boulevard"

The book you are looking at now is a great collection of songs from "Phantom." If you want/need to have "Masquerade," "Angel of Music" and/or "Prima Donna" then you'll have to get this book. If you don't want songs from those other shows then this "Phantom" book is right for you.

If you're anything like me, you'll go for the bigger book and get more bang for your buck.

Either way, you're sure to get hours of enjoyment singing along with the cast recording(s) or with piano accompaniment. Having the sheet music is very helpful in terms of learning the song. Also, my ability to sight read is improving.

Happy singing!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for beginners and pros alike, January 3, 2003
This review is from: Phantom of the Opera - Andrew Lloyd Webber: Vocal Selections - Souvenir Edition (Paperback)
This sheet music is great, doesn't matter if you're a beginner either! Easy to read and play. There are small mistakes: not all of the Phantom theme song is written down. Also in Point of No Return they say to play an A instead of an Am. Otherwise, great. Angel of Music is probably the best song for beginners. Masquerade is an incredibly big pain in the neck, rhythm-wise.
Get the book if you are a newbie or a pro. Doesn't matter!

I really Liked this book because you get to play the main songs from The Phantom. It really Isn't that easy, but the harder it is the better it sounds! I reccomend this book to all who love the Phantom songs and would like to play them for themselves

5.0 out of 5 stars This is so cool!, March 25, 2005
This review is from: Phantom of the Opera - Andrew Lloyd Webber: Vocal Selections - Souvenir Edition (Paperback)
I love this play, book, and movie! The music is really fun to play, but watch out for the chords! "The Point of No Return" calls for all 5 fingers spread across more than one octave, ouch! The chords in TPONR and the theme song were the hardest for me, but the rest is easy and fun! Buy this!!

I got this book for Christmas and it is a great book. I love it. I play out of it as much as I can. It is very good for sight reading and they are good songs to learn to sing. This book is great! Buy it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome Music Book, May 1, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Phantom of the Opera - Andrew Lloyd Webber: Vocal Selections - Souvenir Edition (Paperback)
This is a great piano book for those who love the music of The Phantom of the Opera. The songs are not terribly difficult, but they sound great. The keys some of the songs are written in could make it hard for less experienced players.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow!, May 19, 2004

This review is from: Phantom of the Opera - Andrew Lloyd Webber: Vocal Selections - Souvenir Edition (Paperback)
This music is so fun to play! Every time I sit at the piano I feel that I can't leave it without playing through the Phantom of the Opera. The music isn't really all that complicated and the songs are rich and full like the ones on the C.D. I only wish I had an organ to play the Phantom's theme on. Very cool. I imagine my family is extremely sick of hearing me play this music everyday, but I can't help it. : ) All I can say is if you love the music and can play piano... buy it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Brava~, August 31, 2002

This review is from: Phantom of the Opera - Andrew Lloyd Webber: Vocal Selections - Souvenir Edition (Paperback)
As a young lyric soprano, with a father who plays piano very well, I have a wonderful time singing this music! Christine's arias and such are in a beautiful arrangement, and from what my father tells me, the piano's adaptation is quite good as well. Likewise, the colorful pictures make the book fun to flip through countless times!

With this in mind , I highly recommend this book to any singer or pianist...for it is both well arranged, and lovely to look at! ~Brava~
