5.0 out of 5 stars Why they rock so hard ...

1.0 out of 5 stars this CD is the worst
I got this cd because of how good it was rated by the customers. they said it was the coolest. believe me, it is not. I waisted my money on it. i thought it would be grate, but when i put it in the CD player, it was terrible. it gave me a headache. Its lucky to have the one star i generously gave it. :(

Phantom Planet has brought something new to the world that is currently drowned in its share of horrible pop music -- what they have brought is a ray of sunshine, otherwise known as their debut album, "Phantom Planet Is Missing." The music is obviously influenced by classic bands, including The Beatles and The Beach Boys. Songs like "So I Fall Again" and "The Local Black And Red" can be described only as perfect melodic rock. This CD is true ear candy -- sweet, smooth, and satisfying ... ideal in every way.

5.0 out of 5 stars Phantom Planet Is Here, March 1, 2002
This review is from: Phantom Planet Is Missing (Audio CD)
Phantom Planet came to me by surprise. After listening to their music and their lyrics, it brought a different sound that doesn't exist in mainstream music. It has a 60s and 70s brit/rock feel...it's like they brought back that era when I was listening to this album. It seemed like the lyrics to these songs are journal entries, and are so poetic. It's better than the rock-rap combo these days. Songs like "Recently Distressed" and "So I Fall Again" are real and personal.
Phantom Planet, thank you for making rock music good!

I first got hooked on this band when I saw and met them in San Fransisco. This is a very good CD and I highly recommend it. They have a unique sound and I really enjoy the lyrics as well. This is a CD that I love! You should definately buy this CD!

This is a band that is so huge live. I saw them last night and went online to buy more of their music. I actually went to the show to see a different band, and had no idea of who Phantom was. Believe me, they rocked. I bought an album at the show and have yet to stop listening to it. Plus they hung out while the other band was playing and were very friendly. If you know music, or are a musician, you will more than appreciate this band. If you dig these guys, check out MUSE they have similar vocal stylings and the same raw power.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great late teen soundtrack, July 2, 1999

These guys could use a little bit of help with their lyrics, but they have energy and wit way ahead of alot of bands this age like Eve 6, Days of the New. Could also take a cue from some Ben Folds 5 (who they "borrow" from) and infuse punk pacing on some songs. Max Fischer is a great drummer, and they have some extremely talented guitarists. I hope on the next cd they can have one producer (and maybe a video) to give them a good direction on their music.

I've never listened to anything by Phantom Planet but I recently put two and two together and figured out that I went to elementary school with Jason Schwartzman (spelling?) University Elementary School! UES UES UES and Mr. Hyman thank you very much for turning out my favorite people in the world.

5.0 out of 5 stars phantom planet is missing, December 14, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Phantom Planet Is Missing (Audio CD)
Plantom Planet is Missing balances the explosive energy of youth-most of the members are barely in their 20s-with the skill and polish of experienced soundsmiths. The songs fuse a classic, melody-driven musicality with an identifiably '90s point of view; the influences of Queen, ELO and the Beach Boys complete the picture. Paul Fox (XTC, Sugarcubes) co-produced.
