Book Description

Phantom Warriors April 3, 2001
MORE GRIPPING, NO-HOLDS-BARRED LRRP ACCOUNTS
FROM THE FRONT LINES

During the Vietnam War, few combat operations were more dangerous than LRRP/Ranger missions. Vastly outnumbered, the patrols faced overwhelming odds as they fought to carry out their missions, from gathering intelligence, acting as hunter/killer teams, or engaging in infamous “Parakeet” flights– actions in which teams were dropped into enemy areas and expected to “develop” the situation.

PHANTOM WARRIORS II presents heart-pounding, edge-of-your-seat stories from individuals and teams. These elite warriors relive sudden deadly firefights, prolonged gun battles with large enemy forces, desperate attempts to help fallen comrades, and the sheer hell of bloody, no-quarter combat. The LRRP accounts here are a testament to the courage, guts, daring, and sacrifice of the men who willingly faced death every day of their lives in Vietnam.

Excellent book, and excellent content. (...)

Highly readable book, it was the 1st in the series I read, and I proceeded to read all of Mr Linderer's books and those written by the other LRRPs who served with the 101st in Vietnam!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Real Stuff, March 23, 2002
This review is from: Phantom Warriors: Book 2 (Mass Market Paperback)
The stories in this book had to come from the real stuff. Only LRRPs/Rangers who had been there could tell these stories. Not Rambo stuff but brave young men doing special operations. A good eye opener.

5.0 out of 5 stars Well worth reading!!!, June 3, 2001
This review is from: Phantom Warriors: Book 2 (Mass Market Paperback)
Gary Linderer's Phantom Warriors II is a stirring tribute to the LRP/ Rangers of the Vietnam war with stories and accounts from soldiers who had served with these remarkable units. More than this it also takes the reader along on the harrowing patrols and points out page by page another proud legacy of the US Army's 75th Rangers. Linderer has done more than anyone I know to help tell the stories of the LRP/Rangers in Vietnam and should be applauded for his efforts. Buy this book. You won't be disappointed.
