5.0 out of 5 stars New to Acceptance? Read this review......., May 9, 2006
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Phantoms (Audio CD)
This review is intended for those who arrived at this page knowing little or nothing about Acceptance. Of course, I don't know why you'd be reading it if you knew all about them...but whatever.

Acceptance is an amazing band. It's hard to put a specific genre on their music. It can be called emo, but anything thats not rap is called emo these days. It can be called rock, pop-rock, punk, pop-punk, whatever. It really doesn't matter.

The songs on this album are incredibly catchy and well-done as far as production goes. A great combination. I said before that this review is for those of you who are new to this band, so I would say that the first song you should sample is the first one on the CD, "Take Cover" Its probably the best song on the CD (its hard to tell, they're all amazing) but the thing and makes it so great is that its not a song that you have to listen to several time before you like it. One listen and its an instant favorite. After that, preview basically every song you can, because they are all really good. I know that sounds lame and repetative, but its true.

The CD features a good balance of songs. Its got fast songs, slow songs, and everything in between. (simple terms, i know) The tracks definitely sound different from each other. None of that running-together like you see on some other albums. The lyrics are pretty decent. Nothing lifechanging, but then again, I don't claim to be any sort of lyrical expert. They definitely dont ruin any of the songs, which lyrics can sometimes do.

Well....there you have it. Hopefully you now know what you are dealing with when you listen to Acceptance. They are a great band and I'm suprised that they are not bigger than they currently are. Oh well....its always nice to know a good band that no one else does!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Surprise, December 17, 2005
This review is from: Phantoms (Audio CD)
This was one of those CDs that I lumped into the "overhyped new rock band" category. I had heard of them through a friend and reluctantly got their CD. Well, sometimes your friends are right with regard to music. This is not exactly a brand-new style of music; catchy emo/rock has certainly been done before, but this is almost too catchy. It's impossible to get these songs out of your head. Plus, the lyrics are positive, yet not cheesy and sappy.

I would strongly recommend this to anyone who likes Dead Poetic, Anberlin, Mae, or whole emo/rock genre as a whole.

5.0 out of 5 stars Phenominal CD, January 13, 2006

This cd is one of the best CD's i've ever heard. In fact, it's the best rock album I've ever heard. Every single song on the cd is, if not great, amazing. The melodies are infectious, the guitar riff's driven and refined. I don't think I've ever heard a band quite like this before. They are in a league of their own.

Best $10 I ever spent.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow.....this CD is amazing....., May 8, 2006
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Phantoms (Audio CD)
I must admit, I discovered Acceptance in a bizarre way. I rented the video game "NFL Street 2" and heard their song "In too far". I thought it was a really good song, so I downloaded some of their other songs. Holy Crap....I was blown away. The songs I heard were amazing.

A common praise for a CD is saying that you can listen to every track withought skipping it. Just saying that is an injustice for this CD. Not only can I listen to every song, I usually hit the skip button backwards to listen to it one more time. These songs are just that sweet. This is one of the few bands that has penetrated my ADD and made an album that I can listen to from begging to end.

There are a few shortcomings of this CD (obviously minor) that I feel I should point out. First of all, after listening to it for awhile, the lead singer's voice can seem wimpy or girly sometimes. I dunno, maybe its just me, but I think he could sing more manly in a few songs. Secondly, there is a track in the middle of the CD called "Ad Astra Per Aspera" that is just a short track of some guitars playing. One question about that.....WHY? Oh well, its only a minute long and i guess it sounds pretty cool. I just think its kinda random. As you can see, there are very few flaws with this CD.

If your new to Acceptance, and want to check them out...I reccomend sampling the first song "Take Cover". I wouldn't say its the best song on the CD, but it is close, and it is a really amazing song. One listen and you will be hooked! Other notables include "This Conversation is Over", "So Contagious", and "Glory Us". Obviously, the other songs are amazing too.

Acceptance is a very amazing band with a very amazing album. Give this CD a try....you will not be dissapointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars So good...what a shame..., February 20, 2007

I love this Cd. My favorite songs are In Too Far, In the Cold, and So Contagious. It's just too bad we won't hear from Acceptance any more...they broke up last summer. But this is Acceptance at its greatest, and it looks like they saved the best for last.

I'd highly reccomend this CD for meaningful lyrics and nice riffs. It's not just crazy rock and it's not just sad-sappy lyrics though. It's a great blend and all the songs are good. Even if we're never going to hear from Acceptance again, you shouldn't miss out on this album.

5.0 out of 5 stars Acceptance: Great Band, Great Music, January 21, 2006
By
This review is from: Phantoms (Audio CD)
Hey! Just wanted to let you all know I agree, Acceptance's new CD "Phantom" is awesome. Every track is great. This group knows how to play music. They came from my hometown and I remember when they gave my boyfriend a CD a few years ago before they got signed. We played it in the car and our friends would comment and ask what band it was. We're from a small town in Seattle, a lot of bands come out of here, but Acceptance is by far the best sounding rock group currently. And here they are! Great job guys!! Keep it up, everyone loves your sound!

5.0 out of 5 stars Expect big things from these guys!, February 3, 2006

Perhaps I'm a little biased because I saw (and met) these guys when they performed at my college, but I maintain that this is a FANTASTIC album! "This Conversation Is Over" and "The Letter" are personal favorites, but the CD is best listened to as a whole. Very profound lyrics and a good driving sound. At times, they sound just like former tour-mates Anberlin, but, if your an Anberlin fan like myself, you'll like that. Just be sure you get a copy that's NOT XCP copy-protected, because I did, and it just causes a lot of computer issues...

5.0 out of 5 stars My Favorite CD- and trust me I have many., August 26, 2006
This review is from: Phantoms (Audio CD)
I would rate this CD higher than 5 stars if I could! It is my favorite cd and I listen to every single song on it equally! All are amazing! I feel like I could fall into the sky and just listen to it if that even makes sense! While I was in Japan I promoted Acceptance and everyone I let listen to it thought it was amazing. I would buy this cd all over again just to prove how much I love it! If you don't buy it you are missing out on my personal favorite cd...and some of the best songs I have ever heard in my life!
