Prior to reading this book I felt I had a very good idea of what landing a pharmaceutical job would take. After reading the book I quickly realized that I may have been giving myself a bit too much credit. The Manger Surveys, sample interview questions, brag book suggestions, and follow-up chapters are the one's I found most informative. This book definitely taught me techniques that will help me stand out from the crowd both before and after securing an interview.
The service provided by Lisa Alexander and her staff have also been excellent. I have e-mailed Lisa and her staff approximately four times since completing the book and have received a reply within 24 hours every time. The questions she has answered and tips she has offered me via e-mail alone are worth the $29.95 I paid for the book.
I definitely recommend this book to anyone that is serious about entering the Pharmaceutical Sales Industry.

I wanted a job in this field knowing nothing about the business; I needed good information from experts. I read many book reviews for several "How to Get a Job in Pharmaceutical Sales" before purchasing any. I noticed happy people writing reviews because they had just gotten job offers from companies like Pfizer, Novartis and other big pharmaceutical companies. So I decided to buy "PharmRepSelect" because the author had directly worked and hired employees for these companies. This author currently sources, recruits for big Pharma and consults with candidates looking to improve their interview skills. So I knew I needed this information. So I bought the book. I read it in a very short time because it was fun to read. The personal stories from the author about what it is like to be a sales rep helped me understand the job. I used all of the information in this book during all of my interviews. Questions like, "Why do you want to be a Pharma Rep?" "Describe a difficult selling situation and how you knew when to give up" would have been impossible for me to answer had I not read PharmRepSelect. Having the ability, courage and confidence to ask for the job offer would also have been impossible if I did not read this book. Listening to the author pretend to be a candidate on "Interview Insight" CD was invaluable.

There are many books on this subject so the bar is set high, but I don't know of any others written by an author with these credentials. I learned just what I needed to know about the business of being a Pharma Sales Rep, how to get an interview, how to answer telephone and face to face interview questions. Lisa Alexander has been in the Pharma industry for many years and it's evident through her writing. She shares personal stories, manager surveys from her colleagues.

Great book gives you all the insider information that you need to get the job of your dreams. I am in the final interview process with the regional manager and couldn't be happier. I loved the book and used all of the knowledge from it to get by my first 5 interviews with a breeze. Great book, low price, can't beat it. Thanks Lisa for all the help!

Having read many books on the subject of interviewing in the pharmaceutical industry I must say that Lisa's book brought immediate success! I wish I had found it first. While Inside the World of Pharmaceutical Sales by Jane Williams is a great overview of the industry, Lisa Alexander's PharmRepSelect is very concise and too the point. The night before my last interview I read the book, practiced the questions using her template and low and behold I was asked almost exactly word for word the questions she had me practice. The interview went incredibly smoothly and I was invited back for a second which has not yet occured. I felt great, using her book I was completely and accurately prepared to win the second interview. Most importantly, I was relaxed and confident. I also recommend using Lisa's book in conjuntion with a 30 minute or more phone consult directly with her. In this way you can be additionally prepared in areas that are specific to your background, personality and technique. I've read 5 books about interviewing in the pharma industry and power interviewing, etc. This was a sure case of good things come in small packages! By the way, I got the job on the second interview thanks to Lisa. I could not have been prepared better!

PharmRepSelect landed me the job of my dreams. PharmRepSelect is written by an expert in the field that actually knows how to communicate information that will keep you from giving up! The real reason PharmRepSelect is different and better then the other books on the same subject is that it gives Encouragement. Out of the other four books I read about getting one of these jobs, it was only PharmRepselect book and Interview Insight CDs that made me feel the most confident and motivated to achieve my goal. None of the other books I read had this effect. In a job market that is crowded and frustrating with masses of people applying and interviewing, its very easy to give up. This kept me in the game. Of course this book is loaded with inside information, the dos and don'ts, but the big difference is the encouragement factor. If you give up on the interview process, you won't get the job. I landed my job offer because I did not give up. PharmRepSelect explained the mechanics of how these managers choose candidates and how to overcome these obstacles. I credit PharmRepSelect book, audio book and Interview Insight audio CD for landing me a job I thought I would never get! I was able to look, sound and act like the perfect candidate. Now I have the perfect job. This book and CDs are gold.
