This review is from: Pharmacogenomics in Drug Discovery and Development (Methods in Molecular Biology) (Hardcover)
From fundamental concepts to advanced technologies in pharmacogenomics, this comprehensive book is useful for those interested in personalized medicine at all levels. The book discusses pharmacogenomics in three parts: technologies, molecules, and diseases and treatments. The first part of the book introduces cutting-edge technologies in pharmacogenomics, including bioinformatics, microarray, and association studies. The second part of the book discusses biomarkers and molecules including membrane transporters, receptors, and enzymes. This part includes three chapters on pharmacogenomics of G protein-coupled receptors (GPCR), providing a complete discussion on GPCR genetic variations, their relationships with diseases, and their potential uses as drug targets. The third part of this book focuses on diseases and treatments including psychiatric disorders, cardiovascular diseases, cancer, Alzheimer's disease, gastrointestinal disorders such as inflammatory bowel disease and irritable bowel syndrome, autoimmune diseases such as asthma and rheumatoid arthritis, and infectious diseases and vaccines.
