This review is from: Pharmacotherapy: A Pathophysiologic Approach (Hardcover)
I almost never read textbooks for class. I always rely on the class syllabus and lecture notes and I've done well. But I not only read this book for my therapeutics class, I'm going to take time out of my summer to read the other sections because it is so helpful and well-written. The explanations are detailed enough that you understand the background mechanism, but not so detailed and dense that you just want to skim through it. Great resource!

Great Pharm Text,
This review is from: Pharmacotherapy: A Pathophysiologic Approach (Hardcover)
Pharmacotherapy is the very best pharmacology text I've ever seen. The drugs are up to date as possible, the pathophysiology review is exceptionally helpful and the resources and studies addressed are excellent. While I'm a FNP student, not a pharmacist, I plan to continue to purchase updated versions for my practice in the future. It is an invaluable resource across health care disciplines. Special populations (ethnic groups, women, elderly, etc) are singled out at the end of each chapter while the discussion of comorbid conditions is thoughtful and realistic. Each chapter begins with key points that are also notated again within the chapter. The tables included help solidify overall characteristics of classes and compare individual drugs. Some providers may be more accustomed to trade names and find this difficult since they are generally not included except for some of the newest drugs.

It's one of the best resources to keep informed about pharmacotherapy. Actual and clear contents.

Dipiro: Pharmacotherapy,
This review is from: Pharmacotherapy: A Pathophysiologic Approach (Hardcover)
This is actually a great book for pharmacy students and pharmacists alike. It is much more understandable than Goodman and Gilman.

My 7th ed of Pharmacotherapy arrived last week. So far the information is more detailed and written at a higher level than the 6th ed which I consider an enormous improvment. But where is the E-Book?? Where is the CD that came with the 6th ed?? There are many references to on-line site [...] in the book but all the info is 6th ed. Do I have to lug this 15 pound monstrosity around with me all the time or just until I get a hernia? I e-mailed medical education@mcgraw-hill.com but have not heard from them. My review of 6th edition isn't shown. I did not like it very much. Too basic to teach from at my hospital. I hope that other chapters are as good as the ones I have read.

This book is HUGE! It's extremely informative though and has helped me out immensely while researching cases and preparing for exams. It's written in such a way that the information is pretty easy to understand and flows well. My biggest complaint (other than the shear MASS of this monster) is that it has a very pungent smell when new. Leave it open for a few days to let it air out before you plan on using it. . . seriously.

this book was in perfect condition and cost so much less than it would have if I had purchased it from my school's bookstore.

Excellent Resource,

This is a great resource not only for pharmacists but medical providers as well. As a Nurse Practitioner (this was a text for my pharmacology class) the information is valuable in learning and understanding the pharmacology as well as the pharmacotherapy of managing various disease states. It is easy to understand and presents the pharmacological management well. I have used this book many times in helping me to learn and understand how to treat my patients. I'm sure it would prove to be a valuable resource for the physician assistant as well as the physician. This should be on the shelf in every providers bookshelf. And the pages should be well dog-eared.
