Just like I, Vampire, this book too is a very fast read!
I thought that the plot for this book was an excellent idea! (It would make for a great movie!)

I picked up Phase II over a year ago at the LA World Sci-Fi Con 2006 and only within the last two weeks did I find an opportunity to sit down and read it. I'm not sure what I was expecting - military, sci-fi, adventure. What I received was a wonderful mixture of all three and horror to top it off.

Phase II is about an advance alien species that believes it has wiped out the entire human race by a combination of their advance weaponry and the weak attempt by the humans to retaliate with their own nuclear, biological, and chemical weapons. Five years later, the aliens decide to colonize Earth - Phase II of their plan. An urgent distress call from one of the colonies alerts the top officials of the alien species that something is attacking them, but are silenced before what is attacking them can be transmitted. Now, a group of Troopers are sent in to investigate and what they encounter are more dreadful than their arched enemy, The Irrilians.

I enjoyed the story immensely. It is a very easy read but I longed for more background on the alien species and more description. Schuster wrote the bare bones of a terrific story and I hope he revisits this book and turns it into a full length novel. He has the makings of a winner with this one.
