Phase IV,
By sarahk_3 "sarahk_3" (Australia) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Phase IV (DVD)
Interesting story for the premise of this film.
A Large Multinational Drug Company has found a cure for AIDS. But instead of making the AIDS drug cure available to the general public, the Large Drug Company decide to wipe out any trace that this AIDS drug cure exists. Only problem is, that the Large Drug Company (LDC), has already started human trials of the AIDS drug that cures and the people who were successfully cured by this trial drug, now become targets for the LDC to wipe out. LDC doesn't want any member of the public to know of their discovery, what they want to happen is that they want to make Billions of Dollars by marketing and selling an AIDS drug that simply treats the symptoms of AIDS. The only facet of this story that I found a little unbelievable was the fact the Dean's character was an ex-navy seal and it was interesting to watch Dean Cain playing a journalist (again) in this film. :). So if you can suspend your disbelief about the "ex navy seal", it is an easy and entertaining/clever little movie to watch. I would recommend this film to any Dean Cain fan. take care, sarahk_4005

A good watch, and Brian Bosworth as a 'bad guy'. Dean Cain is excellent in a movie with a better plot than expected. I truely enjoyed this movie,
and Bosworth does a good job with his character. But the movie is Dean Cain's. A definte buy, and one you can watch over and over.

Could have been better.,

The best acting job in the whole movie, was Dean Cain himself. The telling of his back story could have been more detailed. It tended to be a bit disjointed in some areas. The action was pretty good though.

This is a fine fictional work, which could easily be based on truth if you believe the rumors about the big drug companies "shelving" cheap drugs/cures that work so they can make big bucks. In this movie, they made a drug that works too well --- it cures. Consequently, the drug company sets out to retrieve all of their drug issued to trial subjects.

The movie starts off as confusing, but it gets easier to understand, after 30 minutes.Dean Cain's character was an innocent dupe who gets caught up by mistake in a drug trade gone wrong. After being chased down through out the movie by the drug lord and being accused of knowing too much, when he doesn't know what Phase IV is until catching on to the operation,as being an experiment gone wrong. He finally goes to the police and his Journal professor, with the evidence, only to find out he got in deeper than needed and must solve a murder indirectly to stop the operation, and uncover a shady secret.

conspiracy at its best,

"THEY" CANT KEEP IT A SECRET ANY MORE. THIS MOVIE TELLS IT LIKE IT IS. THE DRUG MAKERS WANT TREATMENTS "NOT" CURES AND IF A CURE IS ACCIDENTLY DISCOVERED? SHELVE IT BECAUSE THEY DONT MAKE THE BILLIONS OFF CURES, ONLY THE TREATMENTS. THIS MOVIE SHOWS WHAT LENGTHS THE POWERS THAT BE WILL GO TO AND WILL DO WHAT EVER IS NECESSARY TO PROTECT THEIR RACKET OR THEIR INVESTMENTS EVEN IF IT MEANS KILLING. ANY INVENTER WHO HAS CREATED SOMETHING THAT COULD PUT THE "BIG BOYS" OUT OF BUSINESS CAN TELL YOU HORROR STORYS THAT PARALLEL THE MOVIE PHASE IV SHOWS. WARD FRAZIER AURORA IN.

One reviewer wrote the review about the "Super Ants"....this is not that movie.
This movie staring Dean Cain bites big time, unless you like movies about chases....there are several car chases, car chasing man, man chasing man, helicopter chasing car....Get the point? The plot is strained through out the movie in dribbles... if you can make it through the endless sceens showing actors walking around doing nothing, walking or staring blankly (probably wondering if this movie will ever be over). *** Fast forward special***

Since the description page included a link that said "buy this DVD with Empire of the Ants", I thought this would be the old Phase IV about ants. I was very irritated when it arrived and it's a DIFFERENT Phase IV with Dean Cain! There is no product picture, no actor names, nothing that let me know it wasn't the movie I wanted. VERY displeased.

I am a big fan of Dean Cain and saw this movie on a cable channel and wanted to have it in my collection. Dean Cain does a wonderful job in this movie and the plot is reasonable and puts you on the edge of your seat.

Somebody got their wires crossed. This is a thriller/action movie and due to the only review here, I confused this movie with the 1974 movie. I bought it but thankfully turned out to be very good movie suprisingly enough so it isnt going back.
